'First tranche of IMF loan will arrive in February: Finance Minister'

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has said that the first installment of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) of 450 million dollars will come in February 2023.

He said this in a briefing after the meeting with the IMF delegation at the Secretariat on Wednesday (November 9).

The finance minister said that the IMF is giving us loans in the same way as I wanted. The loan will come in seven installments till 2026. The first installment is in February. The remaining loans will be available every six months.

He said that according to the action plan of the IMF, all the formalities and final board approval of the loan proposal will be completed within the next 3 months.

It is to be noted that a delegation of the IMF came to Dhaka on October 26 to discuss the issue of loans to the IMF on July 24 this year.
