'Sitrang' is 335 kilometers away from the coast

Cyclone Sitrang, which is at sea, is located 335 kilometers south-southwest of the Payra seaport, the Meteorological Department said.

It is also located 395 kilometers southwest of Cox's Bazar seaport and 440 kilometers southwest of Chittagong seaport, the agency said.

This information was given in the Meteorological Department's special warning No. 9 at noon today, Monday (October 24).

The warning states that Cyclone 'Sitrang', which is located in the east-central Bay of Bengal and adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal and north Bay of Bengal areas, is moving north-northeastwards and is located in the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjacent northeast Bay of Bengal areas (latitude: 19.2° North, longitude: 89.2° East).

It was located 440 km southwest of Chittagong Seaport, 395 km southwest of Cox's Bazar Seaport, 365 km south-southwest of Mongla Seaport and 335 km south-southwest of Payra Seaport at 12 noon today (October 24, 2022). It is likely to intensify further and move north-northeastwards and cross the Barisal-Chittagong coast near Khepupara by midnight today/early tomorrow morning.
