Five children born at once, none survive

A housewife in Chuadanga has given birth to five children after 10 years of marriage. The housewife gave birth to five children at once at Karpasdanga Apollo Hospital in Damurhuda Upazila on Thursday night.

However, not a single child survived. The mother, Salema Khatun (27), is the wife of farmer Jhantu Mia of Kanaidanga village in Damurhuda upazila.

According to sources, farmer Jhantu Mia waited for 10 years for a child. When the child was born, the family was filled with joy. In the meantime, Salema Khatun was admitted to a hospital in Karpasadanga Bazar with stomach pain before Thursday evening. She gave birth to a child around 7 pm. Later, around 8 pm, she gave birth to four more children one by one. Shortly after that, all of them died one by one.
Hospital Managing Director Dr. Mamun R. Rashid said, "Shalema Khatun came to the clinic with her husband before evening. After entering the clinic, she gave birth to one child first. Later, with the help of the doctor on duty, she gave birth to the remaining four children. Within a short time, all five newborns died.

Dr. Masuma Ferdous Snigdha said that Salema Khatun gave birth to five children in just 4 and a half months. Among the children, 1 was a girl, 2 were boys, and the remaining two were in a conjoined state. Therefore, it was not possible to know whether it was a boy or a girl. Although all the children died, the pregnant Salema Khatun is undergoing treatment. She is in fairly good health.
