Three shepherds missing in Kamalnagar flash flood rescued in Bhola

Lakshmipur: Three shepherds who went missing due to tidal surges in the Meghna River in Kamalgaon, Lakshmipur, have been rescued from Ilisha, Bhola.

On Monday (October 23) afternoon, General Secretary of Kamalnagar Buffalo Farm Owners Association Md. Mahbubur Rahman Swapan confirmed that they were rescued alive.

Earlier, on Sunday (October 22) night, the relatives of the three shepherds found them and informed the general secretary of the Farm Owners Association.

The rescued shepherds are Abdur Zaher (50), son of the deceased Mohammad Hossain of Patarirhat Union of the upazila, Hannan (35), son of Kalu Palowan of Char Falkon village, and Md. Bahar (25), son of Dulal of the same village.

Quoting relatives, General Secretary of Kamalnagar Buffalo Farm Owners Association Md. Mahbubur Rahman Swapan said that they were caught in a tidal wave and drifted downstream to the coast of Bhola's Ilisha. They were rescued by locals on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday (October 20), the three shepherds along with 600 buffaloes and 100 cows were swept away by a tidal wave caused by a low pressure area in the Meghna River in Kamalnagar, Lakshmipur.
