Hawker eviction drive in Comilla city, van is demolished

The Comilla City Corporation (Kurik) has conducted an eviction drive to ease traffic congestion and bring back order, which has seized the vans and various products of the hawkers occupying the sidewalks and also destroyed the vans and other vans.

On Sunday (June 28) afternoon, raids were conducted in various areas including Ranibazar, Nazrul Avenue, Kandirpa, Pubali Chatwar in the city.

The operation was led by Comilla City Corporation Administrator Yusuf Molla Tipu, a Samt City Corporation officials and members of the law enforcement agencies.

During the operation, the hawkers sitting next to the savior were seized and some vans were kept hidden but they were found and seized with the help of a veku.

"I feel bad for myself when I am taking a tough step against these poor and helpless people but that there is no disruption to the movement of people," said Yusuf Molla Tipu, administrator of Comilla City Corporation.

He said that the city corporation has taken the initiative to rehabilitate the hawkers who do business by occupying the footpaths. Comilla City Market has been reserved for 3, 4, 5 and 6 floor hawkers, who are interested in their ability and their choice to take up the shop in the direction of their business.

Comilla City Corporation has informed that such eviction operations will be conducted on a regular basis to reduce traffic congestion in the city and ensure smooth movement of the public.
