Khaleda Zia's family requests extension of sentence suspension

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's family has filed an application to extend her bail. Shamim Iskander, Begum Khaleda Zia's younger brother, submitted the application to the Home Minister on Sunday afternoon.

In the letter, he requested Begum Khaleda Zia's unconditional release and permission to go abroad for better treatment.
Confirming the matter, BNP media cell member Shairul Kabir Khan told the media that the letter was delivered to the Home Ministry this afternoon. BNP Chairperson's Private Secretary ABM Abdus Sattar and Chairperson's Advisory Council member Bijon Kanti Das delivered the letter.

ABM Abdus Sattar told him that the application to extend Madam's release period has been submitted to the Home Ministry. Earlier on Saturday, Law Minister Anisul Haque said, "We are waiting to receive the application. If the family applies, Khaleda Zia's release period will be extended by executive order." Khaleda Zia's release period will end on the 26th of this month.
