Cyclone Sitrang: 110 grams submerged in Jhalkathi

Due to the impact of Cyclone Sitrang, moderate to heavy rainfall and gusty winds have been blowing in the coastal district of Jhalokati since Monday morning.

Due to the strong winds and storms and rains since morning, low-lying areas of many villages in the district have been submerged in water.

Nearly fifty villages in Kathalia Upazila have been submerged in water. The Amua embankment has been damaged.

Deputy Commissioner Johar Ali said that there is no dry food stock for relief in the district. However, there is cash and all other arrangements. Shelter centers have been prepared to shelter 4 lakh people.

More than 400 shelters, including 61 cyclone shelters, have been prepared. In addition, all kinds of preparations are being made, including multiple emergency teams and dry food.
