Graham Potter gave a message to get everything sorted out quickly after Thomas Tuchel left. His team was going through ups and downs in the league matches. However, the Blues played well in the Champions League. Chelsea, who were caught in Nottingham in the previous match in the league, had to play their best against Manchester City at home.

They played perhaps their best game against last season's league champions, but Riyad Mahrez's 63rd-minute goal gave Manchester City a 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge, moving Pep Guardiola's side five points clear of league leaders Arsenal.

Manchester City played better than Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. They had more possession of the ball. They had three shots on goal and one in the net. They had six shots on target. Chelsea had two good shots but no goals. Their three attacks failed.

Manchester City became only the second team in Premier League history to win four matches against Chelsea in all competitions. Bolton Wanderers won four consecutive matches against Chelsea between 1958 and 1960. The defeat to Manchester City saw the Blues drop to 10th in the league table.
