President, Prime Minister pay tribute at National Memorial

President Md. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tribute to the brave martyrs of 1971 by laying flowers at the National Memorial on the occasion of the great Victory Day.

The President first paid tribute by laying flowers at the altar of the National Memorial at 6:35 am on Sunday (December 16). The Prime Minister then paid tribute to the brave martyrs by placing a wreath.
At this time, they stood in silence for a few minutes in memory of the brave martyrs of the great war of independence in 1971. A mournful tune was played on the bugle and a smart contingent of the army, navy and air force saluted.

After the President and Prime Minister paid their respects, senior military and civil officials of the government, cabinet members, advisors to the Prime Minister, members of parliament, and top leaders of the ruling party paid their respects to the martyrs. The Chief Justice, Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the National Parliament paid their respects to the martyrs. Then at 7 am, the National Memorial was opened for people from all walks of life to pay their respects to the martyrs.
