The earthquake was felt in different parts of the country including the capital Dhaka and the port city of Chittagong on Monday morning.

The earthquake was hit by a moderate quake at 9:00 am The weather office knows that the magnitude of the earthquake was 5.1 on the Richter scale.

Nizamuddin Ahmed, assistant at the earthquake monitoring and research center of the Abhawata Directorate, said that there was no news of any damage caused by the earthquake in the country.

He said the earthquake was felt at 9:25:20 AM on Monday, the origin of the earthquake was at the Kolkata border in the Bay of Bengal.

It is 520 km from Dhaka, 340 km from Cox's Bazar and 397 km from Chittagong.The origin is bordered by West Bengal in the southwestern region of the Bay of Bengal.

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported an earthquake in the Bay of Bengal, which was magnitude 5.2 on the Richter scale.
