Heavy rains started on Monday morning on the coast of Bagerhat, with sweeping sweeping and sprinting at Mongla port.
Due to the impact of cyclone Sitrang, there was light to moderate rain in the coastal district Bagerhat last night. Heavy rain and wind are blowing since Monday morning.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Azizur Rahman said that 344 shelter centers are ready. As soon as the instructions are received, arrangements will be made to take the people of the vulnerable areas to the shelter.
Coast Guard West Zone Mongla Staff Officer (Operation) Lieut. Commander Mohiuddin Zaman said miking is being done to warn the people of the coastal region.
They are being asked to stay safe, while there is a ban on fishing till 28th. Sea trawlers and hundreds of fishermen have been safely kept at the site of the main landing center of Bagerhat, which has been anchored in the Bhairab river near the KB Bazar.
The streets of the district town are very empty due to the rains and some people have been seen coming out with umbrellas.
However, there is fear among the people of Bagerhat's sub-districts with Ambashya and fear of floods.
