Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in New Delhi on a four-day state visit at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Prime Minister was given a red carpet welcome at the airport.
The Biman Bangladesh Airlines VVIP flight carrying the Prime Minister landed at Palam Airport in New Delhi at 11:40 am local time today, Monday (September 5).
Prime Minister's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told BSS that a VVIP chartered flight carrying the Prime Minister and her entourage landed at Palam Airport in New Delhi at 11:40 am local time today.
There, the Bangladesh Prime Minister was welcomed by Indian Minister of State for Railways and Textiles Darshana Vikram and Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Muhammad Imran. In addition to rolling out a red carpet at the airport in honor of Sheikh Hasina, a 6-7-member cultural group performed welcome dances and musical instruments.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to pay homage at Mahatma Gandhi's tomb at Rajghat today. Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Sheikh Hasina today.
On the second day of the Prime Minister's visit to India, he is scheduled to hold bilateral talks and a private meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Hyderabad House on September 6. He will be formally received by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and given a ceremonial guard of honour.
After the bilateral talks, several MoUs are likely to be signed between the two neighbouring countries and a press statement will be issued later. Sheikh Hasina will later attend a lunch hosted in her honour by the Indian Prime Minister.
