The inauguration of the agricultural machinery distribution program among farmers at a subsidized price of 70% was held in Baniyachang.
Out of the agricultural machinery worth 1 crore 99 lakh taka, the government is providing 1 crore 29 lakh 35 thousand taka at subsidized price. And farmers are providing only 69 lakh 65 thousand taka.
The meeting, held at the Upazila Parishad auditorium at 11 am on Tuesday, November 15, was presided over by Upazila Executive Officer Padmasan Singh. Local MP and panel speaker Adv. Md. Abdul Majid Khan inaugurated the meeting as the chief guest.
Upazila Parishad Chairman Abul Kashem Chowdhury spoke as the special guest.
The keynote address was presented by Upazila Agriculture Officer and Agriculturist Md. Enamul Haque.
The meeting was addressed by Vice Chairman Faruk Amin and Hasina Akhtar, Officer-in-Charge Ajay Chandra Deb, Upazila Awami League Joint General Secretary Tajimul Haque Chowdhury, UP Chairman Farid Ahmed, Sadiqur Rahman, Ershad Ali, Upazila Awami League leader Nazrul Islam,
Sheikh Alamgir Hossain, General Secretary of the Upazila Jubo League, Rubel Mia, General Secretary of the Sramik League, and others.
Baniachong Press Club President Mosahed Mia, journalists Sheikh Nurul Islam, Shah Sumon were present at the time.
At the same event, the Rabi Seeds and Fertilizer Distribution Program was also inaugurated.
In his speech as the chief guest, MP Md. Abdul Majid Khan said, "This government is the people's government."
Being a government of the people, the government has taken steps towards public welfare.
Bangladesh is an agricultural country and the government is taking every agriculture-friendly step for Bangladeshi farmers.
In the past, no government has provided agricultural machinery to farmers at subsidized prices.
It is doubtful whether such measures would exist if Awami League was not in power.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government has stood by farmers by subsidizing their fertilizer and agricultural machinery.
This government is providing farmers with limited free seeds, fertilizers, and agricultural machinery to increase production.
If production increases, the country will achieve self-sufficiency in food and farmers will become self-reliant.
