Another former BNP MP sentenced to 8 years in prison

After sentencing former Member of Parliament (MP) of Jhenaidah-2 constituency Mashiur Rahman to 10 years in prison, the court has now sentenced another former BNP MP from Jhenaidah-1 (Shailkupa) constituency, Abdul Wahab, to 8 years in prison. At the same time, an order has been issued to confiscate assets worth Tk 9.3 million, which are not known to him.

Jessore Special Judge Nitai Chandra Saha issued the order on Monday in a case of illegal acquisition of wealth and concealment of wealth. The ACC had earlier filed the case in 2008.

BNP central committee member and Shailkupa Upazila BNP president Md. Abdul Wahab was a two-term parliamentarian from Jhenaidah-1 constituency.

Earlier, on October 25, the same court sentenced former MP and BNP Chairperson's advisor Mashiur Rahman to 10 years in prison in an ACC case. At the same time, it ordered the confiscation of assets worth Tk 10.569 crore, which were not related to his known income.
