Suhrawardy Garden: The BNP's public rally has officially begun at the capital's Suhrawardy Udyan. The formalities of the public rally began with a recitation from the Quran at 1:45 pm on Sunday (November 12).
Various leaders of the party at the metropolitan and central levels are now speaking on the stage of the public meeting organized under the chairmanship of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and moderated by Publicity Secretary Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie.
Leaders and activists from different wards of Dhaka have started arriving at the public meeting venue at Suhrawardy Udyan. Various slogans are being raised from the stage in between speeches to encourage the leaders and activists.
Earlier, artists from the Nationalist Cultural Organization (JASAS) began encouraging the leaders and activists by performing music on stage from 11:15 am.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will address the leaders and activists present at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the afternoon.
Meanwhile, leaders and activists from various districts and upazilas around Dhaka, including the capital, have been seen gathering at Suhrawardy Udyan in processions.
Leaders and activists of BNP and its affiliates have been gathering in the garden since 10 am, beyond the stage. Apart from Suhrawardy Udyan, they are gathering at several points including Matsabhaban, Shahbagh, TSC.
Party sources say that the first part of the public meeting will include a cultural segment. The main part will include speeches by top leaders. BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will be the chief guest at the public meeting.
Meanwhile, top leaders including party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Vice Chairman Abdullah Al Noman, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi are present at the public meeting venue and giving various directions to the leaders and activists who have arrived there.
Although November 7 is BNP's 'Revolution and Solidarity Day', the BNP is holding the rally on Sunday, which has been postponed due to the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) conference in Dhaka.
