Pakistan has claimed to have shot down two Indian fighter jets for violating its airspace in Kashmir. The country's army has also said that it has captured two pilots from the downed aircraft, reports The Dawn.

Pakistan's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor tweeted that the Pakistani Air Force shot down two Indian fighter jets after they violated Pakistani airspace. One Indian plane crashed in Indian-occupied Kashmir and the other crashed inside Pakistan. The pilot of the downed plane has been arrested by Pakistani law enforcement agencies.
However, the Dawn report said that an hour after the tweet, Major General Asif Ghafoor announced in a press conference that two pilots had been captured.

Meanwhile, Pakistan's Foreign Ministry spokesman Dr. Mohammad Faisal said, "The sole purpose of this show of force by Pakistan is to demonstrate our right and capability to defend ourselves. We do not want to increase tensions, but if anyone poses a threat to us, this is proof that we are fully prepared to deal with it."
