Abu Taher, Ramganj Correspondent:
A written complaint has been filed with the Lakshmipur District Education Officer against Parikshit Banik, an assistant teacher at Ramganj Station Model Government Primary School in Lakshmipur, for giving private tuition to more than a hundred students and his coaching business. The complaint filed by Rupa Banik, a guardian member of the school's SMC committee, on October 28 is currently being investigated by the Upazila Education Officer.
According to local sources, assistant teacher Parikshit Banik joined this educational institution in 2018. Since joining, he has been exerting administrative and political influence by grouping teachers and establishing a coaching center in a building adjacent to the school. He is also running a private and coaching business by threatening students with various temptations and low marks in exams. He also holds a farewell ceremony for 5th grade students from the coaching center separately outside the school. A parent who does not want to be named said that if Parikshit Banik does not take private lessons from Sir, the teacher also threatens to make the students fail. He sees those students in the class from the perspective of neglect. That is why the students are forced to take private lessons from him at the coaching center or privately. He is busy with coaching and private lessons in the morning and afternoon. After so much hard work, he is unable to concentrate in class.
Accused teacher Parikshit Banik said, "Jahangir Sir in the room next to me, Sheikh Jahangir Alam, Mizan Sir and everyone inside the school are teaching privately according to their own views. But some people have made complaints against me out of jealousy. All this is a conspiracy."
Headmaster Emran Hossain said that the allegations are true and the education officer is investigating the matter. So I cannot say anything about it.
School Managing Committee Vice President and Councilor Rashedul Alam said, "This is true because teachers do private and coaching. However, whether they teach in school or during class time is a matter for us to see. What the teacher does before and after school time is not a matter for us to see. We have learned that there have been complaints about the tested merchant."
Upazila Education Officer (Acting) Mohammad Abdul Mohaimen said that a complaint has been made to the District Education Officer regarding various irregularities including private and coaching against Station Model Primary School teacher Parikshit Banik. I am investigating on the instructions of the District Education Officer. I will soon submit the investigation report to the higher authorities.
Lakshmipur District Education Officer Munsur Ali said, "We have received the complaint. The Upazila Education Officer has been asked to investigate and submit a report. Legal action will be taken once the investigation report is received."
