Attack on Ansar commander in Ramgati, no arrests made

Lakshmipur: No one has been arrested despite a case being filed regarding the attack on Ansar commander Motaher Hossain of Char Badam Union in Ramgati Upazila of Lakshmipur.
The police could not arrest the accused in the case till Sunday (February 17) afternoon. Earlier, on Friday afternoon, February 8, an attack took place on Motah's commander in Char Sita village of Char Badam union of the upazila. In this incident, injured Motah's son Md. Monir filed a case in the Lakshmipur Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Monday afternoon, February 11. Eight people were named as accused in the case.
According to the case report, on the day of the incident, Momin Ullah, his sons Faisal and Russell of the same village, along with their people, forcibly irrigated water from Motaher Hossain's pond. When he resisted, the opposing people hacked Motaher and seriously injured him. When his family members tried to save him, they were also beaten and injured. Later, locals rescued the injured and admitted them to the Ramgati Upazila Health Complex. As his condition deteriorated, Motaher's commander was sent to Noakhali Hospital for better treatment.
Rammagati Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Arichul Haque said the accused have been absconding since the incident. Efforts are underway to arrest them.
