Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit Ukhia, Cox's Bazar, on Tuesday to observe the plight and current situation of the Rohingyas who have fled to Bangladesh in fear of their lives after being subjected to torture in Rakhine, Myanmar.

He made this statement while discussing the Rohingya issue with high-level government and party officials at Ganabhaban on Sunday.

Since the early hours of August 25, clashes between border police and members of the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) began in Rakhine. More than a hundred people were killed in the incident. Of these, 12 were members of the security forces and the rest were members of Ansar. This incident led to the killing of civilians, rape, and various tortures, including burning houses, in the name of an operation in Myanmar's Rakhine state. Since then, thousands of Rohingya have fled to Bangladesh every day.

The number of people fleeing Myanmar has now exceeded 700,000, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Muhammad Shahriar Alam said in a Facebook status on Sunday.

He wrote on Facebook, 'The number of people coming from Myanmar has exceeded 700,000. Of which, about 300,000 have come in the last 15 days.'‘
