Prime Minister seeks strong UN role in Rohingya repatriation

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has reiterated her call to the international community and the United Nations to play a strong role in solving the Rohingya crisis by repatriating the forcibly displaced Myanmar citizens to their motherland. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's courtesy meeting with the UNHCR High Commissioner Filippo Grandi was held on Tuesday (September 20) at the local Samatta morning at Hotel Lotte Palace Newartc Meeting Room.

At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. AK Abdul Momen briefed reporters on the Prime Minister's activities on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and in his meeting with Grundy, Sheikh Hasina also emphasized on increasing UNHCR's activities in Myanmar on the Rohingya issue, in response to Grande, who said she will visit Myanmar soon.

The Prime Minister said that the Rohingya crisis can be solved only by repatriating the forced displaced Rohingyas to the motherland Myanmar, and the UNHCR High Commissioner also agreed with him in the meeting, they discussed the current activities of UNHCR in helping the Rohingyas who have taken refuge in Cox's Bazar and Bhashanchar in Bangladesh.

Later, International Criminal Court (ICC) Prosecutor Karim A Khan QC met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the same place.
