Four people have been arrested for casting fake votes in the Alexander UP election in Ramgatir upazila of Lakshmipur. They were arrested at around 11:30 am on Thursday at the Paschim Balur Char Government Primary School center, the presiding officer said.
Meanwhile, a chase took place between supporters of UP member candidate Nur Chleman Howlader and Firoz Kabir Babul Howlader over influencing voters outside the Paschim Char Alexander Government Primary School. Both sides ran around with sticks and clubs in their hands, causing panic among voters. Later, law enforcement agencies brought the situation under control.
Voting began with enthusiasm on Thursday morning. A large turnout of voters was seen at each polling station. The presence of women voters in particular was noticeable. In addition, law enforcement agencies are stationed in the polling areas under tight security.
