In Lakshmipur:

Four days after he went missing in Lakshmipur, the police have recovered the mutilated body of an elderly man named Md. Nurnabi. His body was recovered from a pond in Hazirhat area of Shakchar, Sadar upazila, this afternoon.
The family alleges that the people of the opposing party killed him in a planned manner due to a land dispute. The police are also considering the incident as a murder. However, they have not been able to arrest anyone involved in the incident yet. The deceased, Nur Nabi, is the son of the deceased Abdus Samad Bepari of Shakchar village. He is the father of 6 daughters and a son.

The deceased's son Belal and local residents said that Nur Nabi had not returned home since leaving his house for Hazirhat on Saturday evening. After searching for him for a long time, his relatives filed a general diary with Sadar Police Station on Monday regarding his disappearance. In the diary, six people who had a land dispute with Nur Nabi were suspected and accused. This morning, a Jain man saw a body floating on the bank of a pond at the scene while cutting down a tree stump.
Later, on hearing his screams, the people around came forward and informed the police. The police recovered the body, identified it as that of Nur Nabir and sent it to the Sadar Hospital morgue. Witnesses said that his fingers were cut, his face was crushed and his beard was burnt.

The victim's relatives alleged that he was killed in a planned manner by rival groups over a land dispute. They demanded the arrest and trial of the killers.
Meanwhile, Lakshmipur Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Md. Anwar Hossain said that looking at the recovered body of the old man, it seems that it was a planned murder. An investigation into the incident is underway. Efforts are being made to arrest those involved, said the police official.
