Murder of friend in Lakshmipur: Three friends get life sentences

A court has sentenced three friends to life imprisonment for killing a young man named Mehraj Hossain by drugging him and then tying a belt around his neck in Lakshmipur.

At the same time, they were ordered to pay a fine of 10,000 taka and, in default, to serve another year in prison.

District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Rahibul Islam delivered the verdict on Tuesday (October 25) afternoon.

Lakshmipur Judge Court Public Prosecutor (PP) Jasim Uddin confirmed the matter and said that Mehraj was killed over a love affair with a girl. The accused were present in the court during the verdict.

The convicts are Abdullah Al Mamun, Sajib Ahmed and Tanvir Hossain Bijoy. Mamun is the son of Md. Yusuf of Uttar Hooghly village under Sudharam police station in Noakhali, Sajib is the son of Nurul Islam of Matahapur village under the same police station, and Bijoy is the son of Shahidul Islam of Rawal Diya village.
