Lakshmipur: In Raipur, Lakshmipur, a scoundrel named Md. Rakib (22) has been accused of torturing a four-year-old child, Piyaseer, by stuffing him in a sack after accusing him of stealing a mobile phone.
The child was sent to Noakhali Sadar Hospital in a critical condition from Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital for advanced treatment around 10 pm on Wednesday (November 1). The incident took place in Bamani of the upazila earlier in the evening. The child, Piyas, suffered fatal injuries to his eyes and face.
Piyas is the son of Md. Sohel of Bamni village in Raipur. Accused Rakib is the son of Touhidur Rahman of the same village.
The child's father, Sohel, said that before evening, the scoundrel Rakib took his son from the front of the house, tempting him with chocolates, stuffed him in a sack and tortured him. Later, with the help of locals, he was rescued and taken to Raipur Upazila Health. After receiving primary treatment, he was sent to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital. Seeing the deterioration of his condition, the doctors of Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital sent him to Noakhali Sadar Hospital. After this incident, the scoundrel Rakib threatened not to file a case.
Md. Nasir, the doctor in charge of Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital, said the child suffered fatal injuries to his eyes and face. He was sent to Noakhali for better treatment.
Raipur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Azizur Rahman Mia said he has heard about the incident. Legal action will be taken if a complaint is received.
