The traditional Singarh fort of India's historic Maratha Empire has been subjected to extreme moral policing and physical abuse, and the members of the self-proclaimed ‘Durga Conservation Society’ have started a rampage of women, children and rabbits for at least two hours due to the talk of wearing shorts of an eight-year-old child.
The incident took place on the day after India's 80th Independence Day celebration, i.e. on August 16, at the popular tourist center in Pune, after receiving a complaint about the incident, Pune's Haveli Police Station filed a criminal case naming the accused.

In recent years, the emergence of some self-proclaimed ‘fortress’ groups claiming to be the protectors and cleaners of their history in the forts of Pune and its surroundings has been alarming. According to local residents and domestic travelers, in the name of preserving these historical structures, the members of these groups will force themselves to the tourists and who will wear or move about what clothes and how to move around.
