Most of the world's wars are being fought between member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Türkiye has called on the Muslim world to unite against global conflicts and challenges. The country has reiterated its support for flood-hit Pakistan and oppressed Palestine.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu made these remarks at the annual coordination meeting of the Islamic Bloc in New York on Thursday.

"The world is now less safe and more uncertain. More than two billion people live in conflict zones, and unfortunately, about 60 percent of these conflicts are taking place in OIC countries," he said.

He expressed his condolences to Pakistan, which has been hit by devastating floods. The floods have affected 33 million Pakistanis. At least 1,576 people have died and $30 billion worth of property and crops have been destroyed. Turkey has already sent a large amount of assistance to Pakistan. Cavusoglu said, "Turkey and the Turkish people will continue to support brotherly Pakistan and our Pakistani brothers and sisters."

Regarding Palestine, Cavusoglu said, "Ankara seeks peace and stability in the conflict region and Türkiye will continue to support Palestine. It is our responsibility to protect the independent and sovereign state of Palestine and Jerusalem as its capital."
