Nigeria floods: more than 600 deaths

The Nigerian flooded floods have killed more than 600 people, according to government officials, who have known that the country has been hit by the worst floods in a decade.

The Minister of Disaster Management in Nigeria said, ‘Recent floods in Nigeria have become an irresistible natural disaster.

Many states were not properly prepared for such flooding floods, with the worst floods in the West African country in a decade, with more than 600 people killed in the population, with an estimated 1.3 million people displaced. And more than two lakh houses have been destroyed. The flood is expected to continue until the end of November.’

A large part of the farmland has been destroyed since the floods in the country in early summer, there are fears about the spread of disease and food and fuel supply.

In a press conference on Sunday, Nigeria's Minister of Human Affairs and Disaster Management Sadia Umar Farooq urged the country's local authorities to evacuate people living in the most vulnerable areas.

He added that the authorities are already providing food and other assistance to the victims, despite the coordinated efforts and early warnings that many state governments have not prepared for the floods.’
