Describing the importance of acquiring knowledge, world-renowned physicist Professor Dr. M. Zahid Hasan Taposh said, "Education elevates the next generation of people. If you try to work without acquiring knowledge, you can make many mistakes."
The professor from Princeton University in the United States made the remarks on Sunday at a reception for meritorious students at a school in Sreepur, Gazipur.
A reception for the students who received the Sultan Uddin Memorial Scholarship was organized at the Sultan Uddin Memorial Academy of Sreepur Municipality today. The chief guest delivered a speech at the event, which was led by the discovery of an elusive particle called 'Vile Fermion'.

The accomplished scientist describes the role of education as important in the rise of a nation, saying, "The purpose of education is to create people with a good mindset. The purpose of education is to acquire knowledge and apply that knowledge. If people do bad things or do nothing after acquiring knowledge, then that knowledge has no value."
Dr. Zahid Hasan also commented that schools contribute to the progress of civilization. He also gave advice to the school authorities.
"We need to pay attention to whether students are doing better than their parents," he said. "If this is not happening, it is not a sign of progress."
Dr. Zahid Hasan remembered his late father, politician Md. Rahmat Ali, at the event. Chaired by Md. Golap Mia, the event was also addressed by Dr. Zahid's brother, Gazipur District Awami League Joint General Secretary Advocate Jamil Hasan Durjoy, Sreepur Municipality Mayor Md. Anisur Rahman, Md. Ahsan Ullah, Sultan Uddin Memorial Academy founder Salah Uddin Ahmed Milon, and others. Shahin Ahmed Zia moderated the event.
The aim of education is to uplift the next generation
