Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina returned home from Bangkok after a six-day official visit to Thailand.
The flight carrying him landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital at 11:30 am on Monday (April 29).
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Bangkok on Monday morning (local time).
Sheikh Hasina arrived in Bangkok on the afternoon of April 24 as part of both a bilateral and multilateral visit to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries at the invitation of Thai Prime Minister Sreetha Thavisin.
Sheikh Hasina was given a red carpet welcome upon her arrival at Don Mueang International Airport, where she was given a 19-gun salute and a guard of honor.
Sheikh Hasina described the visit as part of a larger focus on the 'neighborhood' policy, as it provides an excellent opportunity for the two countries to further renew the momentum of bilateral relations.
He also said that this visit will go a long way in deepening the relations between the two countries.
Sheikh Hasina, speaking at a luncheon hosted by the Thai Prime Minister, said she firmly believes this visit will provide much-needed inspiration to develop the full potential of bilateral relations.
The Head of Government further said, 'This official visit will be a milestone in our bilateral relations. It has ushered in a new era of fruitful partnership between our two countries. We must maintain this momentum of renewed relations in the future for the mutual benefit of our people and countries.'
During the visit, Sheikh Hasina held talks with Thai Prime Minister Thawisin at Government House (Prime Minister's Office) on April 26. Five bilateral documents were signed in the presence of both leaders to strengthen bilateral relations between Southeast Asian and South Asian countries. The documents are - an agreement, three memorandums of understanding (MOUs) and a letter of intent.
The documents also include agreements on visa exemption for government passport holders, memorandums of understanding on energy cooperation, cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters, and cooperation in the field of tourism, and a letter of intent to negotiate a free trade agreement (FTA) by 2024.
Sheikh Hasina also attended a formal lunch hosted by the Thai Prime Minister at Government House. Upon arrival at Government House, Sheikh Hasina was given a warm red carpet welcome at the open space in front of the Thai Kuh Fah Building.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the 80th session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNSCAP) on April 25. In her address at the session, she called on all world leaders to stop wars, attacks and aggression and say 'no' to war. She said that lasting peace and security are prerequisites for sustainable development.
He emphasized the importance of resolving regional disputes and tensions through dialogue, saying that dialogue can bring peace.
UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ESCAP, Armida Salsiah, met with the Prime Minister at the Alishabana and UNESCAP conference venues.
On the same day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid a courtesy call on Thailand's King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajira-Klaocha-Uyao and Queen Suthida Vajrasudha-Vimala-Lakshan at the Amphora Southern Throne Hall of the polluted palace.
