Mauritanian Airlines has claimed that reports that a plane carrying 210 Mauritanian pilgrims crashed on the Red Sea coast are a rumor.

The sudden news of the plane crash on Tuesday (May 27) caused concern on social media. However, airline authorities confirmed that all the pilgrims arrived safely in Saudi Arabia.

Reports circulating in various media outlets claimed that a plane carrying pilgrims from Mauritania to Saudi Arabia had crashed on the Red Sea coast. Initial reports claimed that contact with the plane was mysteriously lost while en route to the Holy Land for the Hajj pilgrimage.

However, the airline authorities denied the allegations and said that by the grace of God, all the pilgrims arrived in Saudi Arabia safely and securely. There were no reports of any accidents on any of the flights scheduled for the Hajj season.

They have urged the media to refrain from disseminating accurate information and spreading fake news. At the same time, the organization has said it will take legal action against those spreading rumors.

Another media outlet, MASDR News, said the news about the Mauritanian Hajj plane crash was baseless and false. Government sources said the news of the plane crashing on the Red Sea coast was incorrect and the video being circulated was fake.

Meanwhile, a video circulating on social media shows terrified passengers screaming from inside the plane and chanting "Allahu Akbar" as the plane plummets. However, that video has also been proven to be fake.
