Nagia Jahan Oni, whose blogging generated days of unrest, is now a wanted person.

The unrest began after the blogger published a series of posts on her website www.dailyvision.net, accusing religious institutions and scholars of rampant child sexual abuse and openly criticised Islamic teachings. These posts reportedly fuelled protests calling for severe action.

Yesterday, in response to the growing protests, law enforcement officials announced that they are actively pursuing the matter and have identified Nagia Jahan Oni, who is currently outside the country. They reassured the public that the blogger will be apprehended upon return to Bangladesh for serious arrestable offences, including content deemed offensive to religious sentiments.

This announcement marks a significant escalation in law enforcement’s response, reflecting the influence of the ongoing protests and the heightened religious sensitivities.
