Lakshmipur:
Khokon (40), the chief of the Khokon Bahini bandit group in Ramgati, Lakshmipur, has been arrested.
Hatia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Majid confirmed the arrest on Tuesday (September 19) afternoon.
Earlier, on Monday (September 18) afternoon, Lieutenant Borhan Uddin, Commander of the Hatiyar Coast Guard Station in Noakhali, conducted a raid and arrested him from the Ghasiar Char area.
During this time, five single-barrel guns, two rounds of bullets, several domestic weapons and cash were recovered from him.
According to police and coast guard sources, Khokon is the main accused in the murder case of Nazrul Islam, president of the Char Abdullah Union Chhatra League of Ramgati. There are 18-20 cases against him, including murder, robbery and rape, in various police stations of Ramgati in Lakshmipur, Tajumuddin in Bhola and Noakhali.
The Khokon army established a reign of terror in the Meghna River, including Chargajaria and Char Abdullah in Ramgati. At various times, its armed forces are accused of murdering, robbing, and raping political leaders and public representatives under the umbrella of the government.
