2 jailed in Ramgati

A mobile court in Ramgati, Laxmipur, has sentenced two fishermen to one month in prison for fishing in the Meghna River during the prohibited hours. On Wednesday (October 4), Upazila Executive Magistrate and Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Azgar Ali sentenced them to one month in prison each. The convicts are Sharif (18), son of Kamal Hossain of Boyar Char area of Char Gazi Union, and Jewel (20), son of Hashim of the same area. Earlier, on Tuesday (October 3), a joint operation was conducted by the Upazila Administration, Fisheries Department and Naval Police outpost from Boyar Char area of the Meghna River during which they were arrested.
