A land grabber named Azad has filed a false case against a journalist named Rakib Hossain Rony for collecting news in Lakshmipur. Earlier, a terrorist named Suman filed a false case against a journalist named Ismail Hossain Jabu, who was angered by the publication of news.
Journalist Rakib Hossain Roni is the Lakshmipur district correspondent of the national daily Banik Barta newspaper published from Dhaka and the executive editor of the online newspaper Top Sangbad.com. He is the son of Abul Hossain of Banchanagar village in the municipal town.
According to local sources, on the morning of September 16, a group of land grabbers led by Azad, a land grabber, attacked and looted the house of an expatriate named Zahir in the Sonali Colony area of Lakshmipur Municipality by breaking the boundary wall. Two people were injured during the attack. Upon hearing this news, journalist Rakib Hossain Rony went to the scene to take pictures and gather news. Azad, the land grabber, became furious. At one point, he threatened to file a case and harass the journalist.
In this incident, on September 17, when the victims filed a case of attack, vandalism and looting at the Sadar Police Station, the police arrested Azad and two others and sent them to jail through the court. Later, the land grabber Azad came out on bail and filed a false and baseless case against several people, including a journalist, accusing his sister Anwara Begum. Land grabber Azad is the son of Mohammad Ulya of Sonali Colony area of Lakshmipur.
Journalist Rakib Hossain Roni said, Azad is a known land grabber in the area. He has been harassing more than fifty people in the area by filing false cases before. He got angry after collecting news of an attack on an expatriate's house and filed a false and baseless case against me through his sister. I demand a fair trial in this incident.
