Lakshmipur:

A class 10 student of Falcon High School has been kidnapped in Kamalnagar, Lakshmipur, for refusing to agree to a child marriage. Three days after the kidnapping, the police have not been able to rescue the kidnapped schoolgirl or arrest anyone involved in the incident. This is spreading anger among the locals, including parents, teachers and students.
The father of the kidnapped schoolgirl filed a written complaint with Kamalnagar Police Station on Friday (October 6) afternoon. Earlier, on Wednesday (October 4) at 9 am, the schoolgirl was abducted from in front of the house of local Karim Maulvi while she was going to private school.
The kidnapped schoolgirl's maternal uncle, Md. Khorshed, said that Oman expatriate Md. Harun (26), son of Momin Ullah of Jangaliya village adjacent to Hazirhat Bazar, proposed his niece's marriage to him. The family members informed the boy's family that they would teach the girl to read and write and would not marry her off as a child. Due to which, 5/6 relatives of the boy's family, including the boy (expatriate Harun), abducted her in a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw on Wednesday morning.
Kamalnagar Upazila Secondary Education Officer (Acting) Md. Touhidul Islam said, "The school principal informed me about the kidnapping of the schoolgirl. I immediately informed the Upazila Chairman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kamalnagar Police Station."
The officer-in-charge (OC) of Kamalnagar Police Station said that the schoolgirl's father has filed a written complaint in this incident. Efforts are underway to rescue the schoolgirl and arrest those involved.
