Chairman-member clash in Kamalnagar: 7 injured in clash

Lakshmipur: In Kamalnagar, Lakshmipur, Char Lawrence Union Parishad (UP) Chairman and Upazila Awami League President AKM Nurul Amin Master has been in a long-standing dispute with Ismail Member, a member of Ward No. 2 of the same council. Seven people from both sides were injured in the clash due to the dispute and past enmity. The clash took place at Torabganj Bazar in the upazila around 8:45 pm on Monday.

The injured are the chairman's son Nizam Uddin Sohel (30), niece Md. Tofail (40), Md. Siraj (35) and Abul Kashem (28). They have been admitted to Noakhali General Hospital and Kamalnagar Upazila Health Complex in critical condition. The other injured are Ismail member's cousin Md. Sumon (28), Main Uddin (26) and Md. Sabuj (28). They have been admitted to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital.

Char Lawrence Union Parishad (UP) Chairman and Upazila Awami League President AKM Nurul Amin Master said that due to past enmity, Ismail member and his people systematically beat up my son and nephews and seriously injured them.

UP member Ismail Member said, "When I went to ask for money owed to the shop, the chairman's son and his men attacked and beat and injured my brothers."

Kamalnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Akul Chandra Biswas said that after receiving information about the clash between the two parties, the police immediately went to the spot and brought the situation under control. No party has filed a complaint with the police station in this regard. If a complaint is received, legal action will be taken after investigating the matter.
