BNP allowed to hold public meeting on 23 conditions

Dhaka: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has given permission to BNP to hold a public rally on 23 conditions, said the party's Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

He made this statement at a press conference at the party's central office in Nayapaltan on Saturday (November 11) afternoon.

Mirza Fakhrul said, "Although the government had not previously given its consent for the public meeting, I received the permission from the DMP a while ago."

He also commented that the government was forced to grant permission because there was no alternative.

Fakhrul said that BNP will hold a rally under any conditions and that this rally is to convey Khaleda Zia's message to the people.

Criticizing the Awami League General Secretary, Fakhrul Islam said, "Obaidul Quader's criticism is false and fabricated. Please cooperate with the government to bring people in favor of democracy instead of giving baseless information. Don't provoke."

Conditions under which public meetings are permitted
Notable among the conditions under which BNP has been given permission to hold a rally are - provocative speeches or distribution of pamphlets is not allowed, all activities must be restricted to the area adjacent to the Engineering Institution in Suhrawardy Udyan, sound boxes cannot be used outside the approved area, people cannot gather on the streets or sidewalks outside the approved area, processions cannot be brought to the rally site, if the conditions are not met properly, the permission order will be immediately considered canceled, etc.

Also present at the press conference were standing committee members Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Mirza Abbas, Vice Chairman Abdullah Al Noman, Ahmed Azam Khan, Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Joint Secretary General Khairul Kabir Khokon, Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel and others.
