Stating that online newspapers that truly deliver good news are needed in today's world, Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud said that if online registration is arranged in light of the broadcasting policy, the loopholes will be closed.

The Information Minister said this in response to questions from journalists after the ninth Newspaper Wage Board meeting at the Information Ministry's conference room at the Secretariat on Saturday (January 26).

The meeting, chaired by Obaidul Quader, head of the reconstituted committee for the implementation of the web board and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, was attended by the Information Minister, Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, and State Minister for Culture KM Khalid.

Leaders of the Newspaper Owners Association (NOAB) were also present.

In response to the question of what measures you will have in place to deal with journalism being affected by many online media scams, Obaidul Quader said, "I am noticing."

And Information Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud said, "I have said from the beginning about online, there are some online that truly provide good news. Which are needed. There is definitely a need for online. This is the reality of today's world."

"But there are some fake news sites online that are actually more involved in spreading propaganda than real news. We have identified these and have taken an initiative to register them when the broadcasting policy is in place. Information and data from many people have been collected. In light of the broadcasting policy, we have registered them and those that are fake news will be automatically phased out. Work is underway in this regard and we will do it soon."

Regarding the fact that accreditation cards are often issued in the name of self-proclaimed newspapers, the Information Minister said, "We discussed this issue today. We will revise these."
