Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the murderers involved in the burning and murder of Madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi in Feni's Sonagazi will not be spared. Sheikh Hasina said in her opening speech at the Awami League's advisory council meeting at the prime minister's official residence, Ganabhaban, on Friday afternoon, "Some of the murderers have already been arrested. Others will also be arrested soon."‘

The Prime Minister said, "I personally believe that they should be given exemplary punishment so that no one can commit such heinous crimes in the future."‘

He said, "I have no words to condemn the heinous incident of a madrasa student being burned to death by a principal for no reason."‘

Referring to the government's efforts to save Nusrat's life, the Prime Minister said, "We tried our best to save the girl. We even took the opinion of the doctors there to send the girl to Singapore for better treatment, but we did not get any positive response."‘

Nusrat lost her battle with death on April 10 after setting herself on fire at a madrasa in Feni on April 6.
The Prime Minister recalled that in 2013 and 2015, BNP-Jamaat started a culture of burning people alive in the name of thwarting the national elections and toppling the elected Awami League government.

The Prime Minister called upon the leaders and workers of the Awami League and all its constituent organizations to prepare for the year-long celebration of the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on a large scale across the country. A national committee has already been formed and a sub-committee will also be formed to successfully celebrate this program.

The Prime Minister extended her greetings to the countrymen on the occasion of the Bengali New Year. The Bengali New Year will be celebrated across the country on April 14.
