Dhaka: 44th founding anniversary of BNP (September 1). On this day in 1978, President Gitaur Rahman established this political party called Bangladesh National Party-BNP.

Program on the occasion of the founding anniversary: On the occasion of the 44th founding anniversary on Thursday (September 1), the flag will be hoisted at 6 am in all the offices of BNP across the country, including the central office in Nathapaltan of the capital.

At 12 noon, the national and central leaders of BNP will recite and offer Fateha at the shrine of the founder and former president Shahid Gitaur Rahman (Bir Uttam) in Sherebangla Nagar.

A colorful rally will be held in front of the central office of BNP in Natapaltan at 3 pm. The rally will be held in front of the BNP leaders and activists from all walks of life including the national leaders of BNP.

On the occasion of the 44th founding anniversary, a discussion meeting will be held at 2:30 PM at the city's Gulisthantha Mahanagar Natyamanch on Friday (September 2) in the capital, which will take part in the national and central leaders.

Similarly, all units of the country, including district and metropolis, will take programs on the occasion of the 44th founding anniversary of BNP, they will take initiatives to hold programs such as local discussions, rally etc.

Dhaka: In view of the implementation of 2-day holidays in educational institutions, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education has prepared a revised schedule for 5 days, adjusting the 6-day class activities.

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHHE) announced the new class schedule on Wednesday (August 31). According to the revised schedule, there will be 7 classes per day for classes 6-10 from Sunday to Thursday.

It said that a two-day weekly holiday on Friday and Saturday has already been implemented in all educational institutions in the country. The existing timetable of educational institutions for classes VI to XII has been revised to ensure that there is no learning deficit for students and to keep the subject structure of the curriculum intact.
Grades 6 to 10: A total of 35 class activities (periods) will be conducted every week, 7 days a week, from Sunday to Thursday.

The duration of class activities in a single-shift institution is 6 hours and 10 minutes, including a daily assembly of 15 minutes and a break of 30 minutes.

Class XI and XII: Each class activity will be 50 minutes long. For Bangla, English and 3 branch-based elective subjects, 5 class activities (periods) will be conducted per week and for Information and Communication Technology, 3 class activities (periods) will be conducted. That is, a total of 2 (25 + 3) class activities will be conducted per week. 5 class activities (periods) will be conducted for optional subjects.

Yesterday, angry young Bangladeshi youths in Sutrapur area of Dhaka were demanding the death of two Bangladeshi Muslim gay bloggers. The bloggers use the names of Etu Mohammad Soumik and Mohammad Asadullah on their blog site www.freedomfriendss.com.

Protesters are demanding immediate action against the bloggers for spreading propaganda against Islam, and for accusing senior Muslim clerics of Bangladesh about hiding the truth that Allah loves gays.

They base their arguments on research they say that Prophet Dhulqarnain (PBUH) was Alexander the Great, who was a bisexual. Angry protesters are demanding the death of the bloggers, who are posing naked on their site. Police too control enforcement immediately stopped the protest. Police requested the protesters to break the protest while the matter is investigated.

আজ মঙ্গলবার ঢাকা মুখ্য মহানগর হাকিমের (সিএমএম) আদালতে মামলাটি করেন অনলাইনভিত্তির পত্রিকা স্টুডেন্ট জার্নাল বিডির সম্পাদক মিঞা মো. নুজহাতুল হাসান।

বাদীর জবানবন্দি গ্রহণের পর অভিযোগের বিষয়ে আদেশ দেওয়া হবে বলে জানিয়েছেন ঢাকার অতিরিক্ত মুখ্য মহানগর হাকিম আসাদুজ্জামান নুর।

মামলার এজাহারে বলা হয়, গত ২৪ এপ্রিল অভিনেত্রী শমী কায়সার মোবাইল চুরির অভিযোগ এনে প্রায় আধাঘণ্টা অর্ধশত সংবাদকর্মীকে জাতীয় প্রেসক্লাবের জহুর হোসেন চৌধুরী মিলনায়তনে আটকে রাখেন। তখন তার নিরাপত্তাকর্মীরা ঘটনাস্থলে থাকা সংবাদকর্মীদের দেহ তল্লাশিও করেন। কয়েকজন সাংবাদিক অনুষ্ঠানস্থল থেকে বের হয়ে যেতে চাইলে তাদের ‘চোর’ বলেও সম্বোধন করেন শমী কায়সার। পরে টেলিভিশন ক্যামেরার ফুটেজে ধরা পড়ে লাইটিংয়ের এক কর্মী অভিনেত্রীর মোবাইল ফোনটি চুরি করেছেন।

লক্ষ্মীপুরে অগ্নিদগ্ধ হয়ে শাহিন আক্তারের মৃত্যুর ঘটনায় প্রধান আসামি সালাউদ্দিনকে গ্রেফতার করেছে পুলিশ।

সোমবার (২৯ এপ্রিল) দুপুর সোয়া ২টার দিকে রামগতির জমিদারহাট ব্রিজ এলাকা থেকে তাকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়। সালাউদ্দিন লক্ষ্মীপুরে চর ফলকন গ্রামের মহর আলীর ছেলে। শাহিন আক্তার চট্টগ্রামের রাউজান উপজেলার সোনাগাজী গ্রামের জাফর উদ্দিনের মেয়ে।

কমলনগর থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি-তদন্ত) ও মামলার তদন্তকারী কর্মকর্তা আলমগীর হোসেন বলেন, শাহিন আক্তার নিহত হওয়ার পর থেকে মামলার প্রধান আসামি সালাউদ্দিনকে গ্রেফতার করতে কাজ করছে পুলিশের কয়েকটি টিম। পুলিশ তার পিছু নিয়ে রামগতির জমিদারহাট ব্রিজ এলাকা থেকে তাকে গ্রেফতার করে।

এর আগে গত ২২ এপ্রিল রাতে শাহিনে বাবা জাফর উদ্দিন বাদী হয়ে নারী ও শিশু নির্যাতন আইনে মামলা করেন। এতে সালাউদ্দিনসহ পাঁচজনকে আসামি করা হয়। এছাড়া এ মামলায় অজ্ঞাতপরিচয় আরও সাত থেকে আটকজনকে আসামি করা হয়। এর আগে সালাউদ্দিনের ভাই আলাউদ্দিন, আব্দুর রহমান, ইউপি সদস্য হাফিজ উদ্দিন ও গ্রাম পুলিশ আবু তাহেরকে গ্রেফতার করে পুলিশ।

গত ২১ এপ্রিল বিকেলে স্থানীয়রা কমলনগর উপজেলার চরফলকন ইউনিয়নের বারমাঝির এলাকার একটি সয়াবিন ক্ষেতের ভেতর থেকে শাহিনকে অগ্নিদগ্ধ অবস্থায় দৌড়ে বের হতে দেখেন স্থানীয়রা। পরে তারা দগ্ধ শাহিন আক্তারকে উদ্ধার করে প্রথমে সদর হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করে। সেখানে তার অবস্থার অবনতি হলে রাতেই তাকে ঢাকা মেডিকেল কলেজ (ঢামেক) হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়। পরে ২২ এপ্রিল সকাল ১১টার চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় তার মৃত্যু হয়। পরে মঙ্গলবার (২৩ এপ্রিল) সকালে শাহিনের ময়নাতদন্ত সম্পন্ন হওয়ার তার বাবা জাফর উদ্দিনের কাছে মরদেহ হস্তান্তর করা হয়। ওই রাতেই জানাজা শেষে শাহিনকে পারিবারিক কবরস্থানে দাফন করা হয়।

স্থানীয়রা জানান, সালাউদ্দিনের শ্বশুরবাড়িতে এসে সালাউদ্দিনের কাছে স্ত্রীর স্বীকৃতি চান শাহিন আক্তার। এ সময় সালাউদ্দিন বিয়ে করার কথা অস্বীকার করেন। এ সময় শাহিনের কাছে বিয়ের কাবিননামা চাওয়া হলে তিনি দিতে পারেননি। পরে কাবিননামা দেখাতে না পারায় তাকে কাবিননামা আনতে বলা হয়। এ সময় শাহিনকে একটি ব্যাটারিচালিত অটোরিকশায় করে চট্টগ্রামে যাওয়ার জন্য হাজিরহাট বাসস্ট্যান্ডে পাঠিয়ে দেয় স্থানীয়রা। কিন্তু যাওয়ার পথে শাহিন অটোরিকশা থেকে নেমে ফের সালাউদ্দিনের বাড়ির কাছে যান। এ কিছুক্ষণ পর অগ্নিদগ্ধ অবস্থায় সয়াবিন ক্ষেত থেকে দৌড়ে বের হন শাহীন আক্তার।

এমপিওভুক্ত মাদরাসার শিক্ষক-কর্মচারীদের এপ্রিল মাসের এমপিও’র (বেতন-ভাতার সরকারি অংশ) চেক ছাড় হয়েছে। রোববার (২৮ এপ্রিল) অনুদান বণ্টনকারী রাষ্ট্রায়াত্ত চারটি ব্যাংকে চেক পাঠানো হয়েছে। শিক্ষকরা আগামী ৭মে পর্যন্ত বেতন-ভাতার সরকারি অংশের টাকা তুলতে পারবেন।

মাদ্রাসাসহ সকল বেসরকারী শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠান জাতীয়করণের লক্ষ্যে বাংলাদেশ মাদ্রাসা জেনারেল টিচার্স (বিএমজিটিএ) নোয়াখালীতে প্রতিনিধি সম্মেলন অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। নোয়াখালী বিএমজিটিএ জেলা শাখার উদ্যেগে শুক্রবার (২৬ এপ্রিল) সকাল ১০টায় নোয়াখালী সদর উপজেলা হলরুমে এ সম্মেলন অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।

সম্মেলনে বক্তারা, দেশে একটি করে স্কুল কলেজ সরকারি করা হলেও একটি মাদরাসাও সরকারিকরণ না করে শিক্ষা ব্যবস্থায় বৈষম্য সৃষ্টি করা হয়েছে। স্কুল কলেজের ন্যায় প্রতি উপজেলায় একটি করে মাদরাসা সরকারিকরণ, মাদরাসার প্রশাসনিক পদে জেনারেল টিচার্সদের নিয়োগ, অবসর ও কল্যাণে অতিরিক্ত ৪% কর্তন বাতিলের দাবী জানান।

The results of this year's SSC and equivalent examinations will be published by May 6. The admission process for those who pass the examination to class XI will begin on May 12.

According to sources in the Ministry of Education, various education boards have completed the necessary preparations for publishing the results of SSC and equivalent examinations. Now, the Prime Minister has been asked for time to submit the summary of the results. A proposal has been sent for publishing the results between May 4 and 6.

It is worth noting that a total of 21 lakh 35 thousand 333 candidates participated in the SSC and equivalent examinations this year.

Locals have formed a human chain demanding the construction of a dam on the banks of the river to protect Kamalnagar Upazila of Lakshmipur from the continued catastrophic erosion of the Meghna. On Wednesday (April 24) morning, an organization named 'Kamalnagar-Ramgati Bachao Mancha' organized a human chain on the banks of the river in Matabbarhat area of Kamalnagar Upazila. Thousands of local people, including various organizations and men and women, participated in it.
The speakers at the human chain said that if the dam work is not started immediately, Kamalnagar Upazila will disappear from the map of Bangladesh within a few years. Therefore, they sought the intervention of the Honorable Prime Minister to start the work of the river dam to protect the three and a half lakh people of this upazila.

During this time, among others, the convener of Kamalnagar-Ramgati Bachao Mancha, Advocate Abdus Sattar Palwan, former chairman of Kamalnagar Upazila Parishad Syed Md. Shamsul Alam, Laxmipur District Awami League's Agriculture Affairs Secretary Abdul Matlab, BSD leader Ibrahim Khalil and many others spoke, raising the demand to save the upazila from the terrible erosion of the Meghna River.
Locally, the project to build a 37-km dam to protect Kamalnagar-Ramgati was approved in 2014. The second phase of the project was supposed to begin after the completion of four and a half kilometers in Ramgati and one kilometer in Kamalnagar upazila in the first phase. But in March this year, local MP Major General Abdul Mannan, at a meeting organized at Hazirhat Coastal College and Matbarhat in Kamalnagar, quoted the Ministry of Water Resources as saying that the previous project to protect Ramgati-Kamalnagar from erosion of the Meghna was canceled on April 4, 2018.
Locals also said that in the wake of such information, there has been fear among the locals about the current project. Therefore, the locals have organized this human chain as part of an effort to reach their demands to the head of government in various ways, the locals said.
