একাদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনে নিজ দলের নেতাকর্মীদের উদ্দেশে খোলা চিঠি দিয়েছেন আওয়ামী লীগ সভানেত্রী প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা। বিশেষ করে তিনি দলের মনোনয়ন বঞ্চিত হয়ে যারা বিদ্রোহী (স্বতন্ত্র) প্রার্থী হয়েছেন তাদের উদ্দেশে তিনি বিশেষ অনুরোধ জানিয়েছেন।

চিঠিতে দলের বিদ্রোহী প্রার্থীদের উদ্দেশে তিনি বলেছেন, ‘আপনার কাছে আমার বিশেষ অনুরোধ, ঐক্যবদ্ধ নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠানের স্বার্থে মহাজোট প্রার্থীর পক্ষে আপনার প্রার্থিতা প্রত্যাহার করে মহাজোটকে বিজয়ী করার সর্বাত্মক প্রচেষ্টা গ্রহণ করবেন। আপনার ত্যাগ, শ্রম ও আন্তরিকতা সবকিছুই আমার বিবেচনায় আছে।’

চিঠিতে প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা দলের ‘বিদ্রোহী’ প্রার্থীদের বলেছেন, বিএনপি জামায়াতের হিংস্র থাবা থেকে দেশ ও জাতিকে রক্ষা করে বাংলাদেশকে টেকসই গণতান্ত্রিক শাসন ব্যবস্থা প্রতিষ্ঠার জন্য আগামী একাদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচন অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। এ কারণে আমরা সমমনা অন্যান্য রাজনৈতিক দলের সঙ্গে জোটবদ্ধভাবে নির্বাচন করার সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণ করেছি। তিনি বলেন, আমরা দৃঢ়ভাবে বিশ্বাস করি, আগামী জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনে আমাদের প্রাণপ্রিয় সংগঠন বাংলাদেশ আওয়ামী লীগ বিপুল ভোটে জয়লাভ করে আবারও বাংলাদেশের জনগণের সেবা করার সুযোগ পাবে। সেই বিজয়ের অংশীদার হবেন আপনিও। আমি নিশ্চিতভাবে বলতে পারি, আওয়ামী লীগ যদি ঐক্যবদ্ধ থাকে, তাহলে নৌকা মার্কাকে পরাজিত করার সাংগঠনিক শক্তি আর কারও নেই।

On Friday (December 7), Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader handed over the letters to the final candidates at the political office of the Awami League president in Dhanmondi in the capital.

The final candidates who received letters as candidates are Syed Ashraful Islam (Kishoreganj-1), Md. Mozaffar Hossain (Jamalpur-5), Habibur Rahman Molla (Dhaka-5), Haji Md. Selim (Dhaka-7), Akbar Hossain Pathan Faruk (Dhaka-17), Dr. Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir (Chandpur-1), Ma. Nurul Amin (Chandpur-2), Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman (Chandpur-4), AKM Shahjahan Kamal (Lakshmipur-3), Nizam Uddin Jalil (Naogaon-5), Md. Shahidul Islam Bakul (Natore-1), BM Kabirul Haque (Narail-1), Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu (Barguna-1), ASM Firoz (Patuakhali-2), Tanvir Hasan alias Chhota Monir (Tangail-2) and Abul Kalam Azad (Jamalpur-1).
