50 lashes on the buttocks for littering!

A notice has been hung on a pole beside the road in Lakshmipur, warning that anyone who litters on the road will be fined Tk 2,000 and given 50 lashes on the buttocks.

It reads, "Please throw the garbage inside the drum. If you throw the garbage on the road without a drum, you will be fined 2,000 taka and given 50 lashes on the back."

A signboard (notice) has been seen hanging on an electricity pole next to Mohammad Ali Road in Lakshmipur city area for the past few days. The notice reads - Conscious Citizen of Mohammad Ali Road by Order.

However, as of Friday (December 8) noon, there were no reports of anyone being fined or flogged.

Locals say that three drums have been provided for dumping garbage at a designated place on Mohammad Ali Road. Some unsuspecting families in the area throw their garbage on the road instead of putting it in the drums. This is destroying the environment and causing discomfort to locals and pedestrians due to the stench.

Even after pleading with the family members, no results were obtained. That's why some people in the area hung this notice on a pole.

It was not possible to speak to any of the people who hung the notices to find out about this matter.



Two brothers killed in road accident in Lakshmipur

লক্ষ্মীপুর সদর উপজেলার জকসিন বাজারে সড়ক দুর্ঘটনায় হাসান ও হোসেন নামের দুই সহোদর ভাই নিহত হওয়ার খবর পাওয়া গেছে। আজ (৮ ডিসেম্বর) শুক্রবার বিকেল ৪টার দিকে এ দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে।

তারা সদর উপজেলার লাহারকান্দী ইউনিয়নের শফিপুর গ্রামের বাসিন্দা। তবে তাৎক্ষণিক তাদের বাবার নাম পাওয়া যায়নি।

স্থানিয়রা জানায়, ওই দুই ভাই লক্ষ্মীপুর থেকে নতুন ফ্রিজ ক্রয় করে নিজেরা ভ্যান গাড়ী চালিয়ে বাড়ি ফেরার পথে জকসিন বাজারে চৌমুহনী থেকে লক্ষ্মীপুরগামী আনন্দ পরিবহণের একটি যাত্রীবাহী বাস পিছন থেকে ধাক্কা দেয়। এসময় ঘটনাস্থলে তারা দুই ভাই নিহত হয়।



Hefazat announces siege of US embassy

Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh has announced a sit-in at the US embassy in Dhaka to protest US President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The organization will hold a protest at 11am on Wednesday, December 13.

Dhaka Metropolitan City Ameer Noor Hossain Qasemi announced the program at a protest march organized by Dhaka Metropolitan City from the North Gate of Baitul Mukarram after Friday prayers.

Last Wednesday, US President Donald Trump declared Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. At the same time, Trump announced the relocation of the US embassy from Tel Aviv, Israel to Jerusalem. In protest of Trump's announcement, anti-US protests spread in various countries around the world, including Palestine. In such a situation, the United Nations has called an emergency session. The organization's president, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has called an emergency meeting of the main Muslim alliance, the OIC, on December 13. Bangladesh has also protested the announcement.

Immediately after Friday prayers, various Islamist groups took out a protest march around the national mosque, Baitul Mukarram. Everyone chanted, "We will accept Trump's announcement or not," "Jerusalem belongs to Palestine, Israel is gone." At that time, the angry crowd set fire to the US flag.

Meanwhile, the Islamic Movement Bangladesh, led by Charmonai Pir, has protested at Baitul Mukarram with the same demand. The organization will hold a mass march towards the US Embassy on Monday, December 11 at 10 am.

Hefazat-e-Islam called for nationwide protests on Friday to protest the declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. The organization held a large demonstration in Hathazari. Child dies after drowning in Raipur

লক্ষ্মীপুরের রায়পুর উপজেলায় পানিতে ডুবে ৫ বছরের এক শিশুর মৃত্যু হয়েছে। শিশুটির নাম মোঃ জাহেদ হোসেন। সে উপজেলার চর আবাবিল ইউনিয়নের ১নং ওয়ার্ডের মাঝি বাড়ির দেলোয়ার হোসেন এর একমাত্র পুত্র।

পারিবারিক সূত্রে জানা যায়, আজ দুপুরে জাহেদ এর মা রান্নার কাজে পাকঘরে ব্যাস্ত ছিলেন। এ সুযোগে জাহেদ ঘর থেকে বের হয়ে যায়। ১৫-২০ মিনিট পর জাহেদের মা রান্নাঘর থেকে বের হয়ে তাকে খুঁজতে থাকেন। খোঁজাখুঁজি করতে গিয়ে রান্নাঘরের পাশে পুকুরের পাড়ে শিশুটিকে ভেসে থাকতে দেখে স্থানীয় লোকজন শিশুটিকে উদ্ধার করে রায়পুর উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে নিয়ে যায়।

পরে কর্তব্যরত ডাক্তার তাকে মৃত ঘোষণা করেন। তার মৃত্যুতে এলাকায় গভীর শোকের ছায়া নেমে আসে।



তালাকপ্রাপ্ত স্ত্রীকে গণধর্ষণে সাবেক স্বামী গ্রেফতার

Lakshmipur: লক্ষ্মীপুরে কমলনগরে তালাকপ্রাপ্ত স্ত্রীর চুল কেটে নির্যাতন ও বন্ধুদের নিয়ে গণধর্ষণের ঘটনায় সাবেক স্বামী আবুল কালামকে (৩৫) গ্রেফতার করেছে পুলিশ।

বৃহস্পতিবার (৭ ডিসেম্বর) রাতে নারায়ণগঞ্জের সোনারগাঁও থেকে তাকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়। আবুল কালাম তোরাবগঞ্জ এলাকার আনোয়ার আলীর ছেলে।

শুক্রবার (৮ ডিসেম্বর) দুপুরের দিকে কমলনগর থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি, তদন্ত) মো. আলমগীর হোসেন গ্রেফতারের বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করে বলেন, গোপন সংবাদের ভিত্তিতে সোনারগাঁও থানা পুলিশের সহযোগীতায় অভিযান চালিয়ে তাকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়েছে।

গত ১৭ নভেম্বর সন্ধ্যায় কমলনগরের তোরামগঞ্জ এলাকা থেকে তালপ্রাপ্ত স্ত্রীকে আবুল কালাম তার আরও দুই মিলে অপহরণ করে রাতভর গণধর্ষণ করে। ভোরে তারা ওই নারীকে রাস্তার পাশে ফেলে রেখে পালিয়ে যান।

স্থানীয়দের কাছ থেকে খবর পেয়ে পরদিন ১৮ নভেম্বর দুপুরে ওই নারীর মা তাকে উদ্ধার করে প্রাথমিক চিকিৎসা শেষে লক্ষ্মীপুর সদর হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করেন। নির্যাতিত নারী কমলনগর উপজেলার চর কালকিনি গ্রামের একদরিদ্র কৃষকের মেয়ে।

স্বজনরা অভিযোগ করেন, ১০ বছর আগে আবুল কালামের সঙ্গে ওই নারীর বিয়ে হয়। বিয়ের পর থেকে একাধিকবার নানা অজুহাতে যৌতুক নেন কালাম। এরপর আরও যৌতুকের দাবি করতে থাকেন তিনি। গত বছর ৫০ হাজার টাকার যৌতুকের জন্য চাপ দেন তিনি। টাকা না দেওয়ায় নির্যাতন করতে থাকেন স্ত্রীকে।

‘উপায় না দেখে আদালতের মাধ্যমে ছয় মাস আগে কালামকে তালাক দেন তার স্ত্রী। এর জের ধরে ওই কালাম তার আরও তিন বন্ধুকে নিয়ে তালাক দেওয়া স্ত্রীকে তুলে নিয়ে গিয়ে চুল কেটে নির্যাতন, মারধর ও গণধর্ষণ করেন।’ বলেন স্বজনরা।

ঘটনার পরের দিন ১৮ নভেম্বর নির্যাতিত ওই নারীর মা বাদী হয়ে থানায় মামলা করেন। মামলা অভিযুক্ত আসামি সাবেক স্বামীর বন্ধু তোরাবগঞ্জ এলাকার বাসিন্দা মো. সিরাজ মিয়ার ছেলে মো. বাবলুকে ওই রাতেই গ্রেফতার করে পুলিশ।

ঘটনার পর থেকে আত্মগোপনে চলে যায় ধর্ষণের শিকার ওই নারীর সাবেক স্বামী আবুল কালাম।

Hefazat protests today over Jerusalem declaration as Israel's capital

Hefazat-e-Islam has announced nationwide protests to protest the recognition of the Muslim holy city of Al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of Israel. They will hold nationwide protests after Juma prayers on Friday, the organization said in a statement on Thursday.

In a statement expressing strong condemnation and protest, Hefazat-e-Islam Ameer Allama Shah Ahmed Shafi and Secretary General Allama Junaid Babunagri called on Hefazat leaders and activists, ulema and the public to join the protest march.

They also protested US President Donald Trump's unilateral recognition of occupied Palestinian Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

In a statement, they said, "The US President has unjustly declared the city of Jerusalem, which is built around the Holy Mosque Al-Aqsa, as the capital of Israel, and has waged war against the Muslim Ummah. The current US President is a mentally deranged man. World peace is under serious threat due to his controversial and aggressive decisions one after another. World Muslim leaders and people must unite to protest his imperialist and aggressive decisions. This can never be done by any Jewish group."



Palestinians ready to sacrifice for the Holy Land of Jerusalem

World leaders have not taken Trump's announcement of Jerusalem, a religiously and politically sensitive place, as the capital of Israel well. They have strongly protested the announcement made by the US President. The Palestinians are also ready to make sacrifices to get Jerusalem as their own.

Hundreds of Palestinians marched across Bethlehem on Thursday against Donald Trump's controversial recognition of the West Bank on Wednesday night. The entire Palestine erupted in anger. The Israeli army used tear gas and rubber bullets to suppress the protests. At least seven people, including a small child, were injured. Everyone, regardless of women, men, and children, participated in the protests. Everyone participated in the protests across the West Bank, Gaza, and East Jerusalem.

Palestinian leaders have called for protests across Palestine. "Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa (Mosque) mean a lot to all of us," said Rabi Alsos, 32.

লক্ষ্মীপুরে সেই এডিসি ও চিকিৎসকের সমঝোতা!

লক্ষ্মীপুরে সমঝোতার বৈঠক শেষে ৪ ডিসেম্বরের ঘটনার ভুল বোঝাবুঝির অবসান হয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছেন সেই এডিসি ও সাবেক সিভিল সার্জন। আজ বৃহস্পতিবার স্থানীয় সার্কিট হাউজে জেলা প্রশাসন ও চিকিৎসকবৃন্দের মধ্যে দেড় ঘণ্টাব্যাপী বৈঠক শেষে এ সমঝোতার কথা জানানো হয়। এসময় তারা একে অপরকে জড়িয়ে ধরে ক্যামেরাবন্দী হন।
জানা যায়, দুপুর ১২টায় জেলা প্রশাসন ও স্থানীয় চিকিৎসক নেতৃবৃন্দ সার্কিট হাউজের দোতলায় বৈঠকে বসেন। দুপুর দেড়টায় বৈঠক থেকে বের হয়ে আসেন সবাই।
এসময় ডা. সালাহ উদ্দিন শরীফ বলেন, আলোচনার মাধ্যমে আমাদের মধ্যে যে দূরুত্ব সৃষ্টি হয়েছে সেটি নিরসন করেছি। প্রশাসনকে সঠিকভাবে পরিচালনার জন্য সার্বিক বিষয় বিবেচনা করে এ সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়া হয়েছে।
ওএসডিকৃত এডিসি শেখ মুর্শিদুল ইসলাম বলেন, এখন আমরা একে অপরকে চিনেছি, জেনেছি, বুঝেছি। একে অপরকে চিনতে না পারায় ঘটনাটি ঘটেছে। এখন আমরা লক্ষ্মীপুরের উন্নয়নের স্বার্থে ৪ তারিখের ঘটনা ভুলে গেছি।
এসময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন জেলা প্রশাসক হোমায়রা বেগম, পুলিশ সুপার আ স ম মাহতাব উদ্দিন, সদর উপজেলা নির্বাহী অফিসার মো. নুরুজ্জামান, সিভিল সার্জন ডা. মো. মোস্তফা খালেদ আহমদ, ডা. আশফাকুর রহমান মামুন, ডা. জাকির হোসেন ও বারের সাধারণ সম্পাদক অ্যাডভোকেট নুরুল হুদা প্রমুখ।
প্রসঙ্গত: গত ৪ ডিসেম্বর জেলা প্রশাসন কর্তৃক পরিচালিত শহরের কাকলি স্কুলের প্রবেশ পথে আগে পরে যাওয়াকে কেন্দ্র করে সাবেক ভারপ্রাপ্ত সিভিল সার্জন ডা. সালাহ উদ্দিন শরীফকে ভ্রাম্যমাণ আদালতে ৩ মাসের কারাদণ্ড দেয়া হয়। পরের দিন মঙ্গলবার ২৪ ঘণ্টার মধ্যে জামিন এবং বুধবার খালাস দেয়া হয়।
এসব ঘটনায় এডিসি শেখ মুর্শিদুল ইসলাম ও ভ্রাম্যামাণ আদালত পরিচালনাকারী নির্বাহী ম্যাজিস্ট্রেট মো. নুরজ্জামানকে তলব করে হাইকোর্ট। এ ঘটনায় এডিসিকে ওএসডি করে জনপ্রশাসন মন্ত্রাণালয়ে পদায়ন করা হয়।
