বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসন ও সাবেক প্রধানমন্ত্রী বেগম খালেদা জিয়ার বাসভবনের সামনে হঠাৎ করেই নিরাপত্তা জোরদার করা হয়েছে।

আজ শনিবার সকাল থেকেই গুলশানের বাসা ‘ফিরোজা’র সামনের রাস্তার দুই দিকেই অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ মোতায়েন করা হয়।

বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসনের প্রেস উইং সদস্য শামসুদ্দিন দিদার বলেন, হঠাৎ করে সকাল থেকেই বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসনের গুলশানের ৭৯ নম্বর রোডের ১নং বাসভবনে (ফিরোজায়) অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ মোতায়েন করা হয়েছে। এছাড়া বাসার কাছাকাছি স্থানে অতিরিক্ত ডিবি পুলিশও অবস্থান করছে।

এর আগে গত শনিবার (৩ ডিসেম্বর) বাসভবনের সামনে (ফিরোজায়) অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ মোতায়েন করা হয় এবং এই রোডের দুই পাশেই চেকপোস্ট বসানো হয়েছিল।

এদিকে, নির্দলীয় নিরপেক্ষ সরকারের অধীনে নির্বাচন, বেগম খালেদা জিয়ার মুক্তি ও দ্রব্যমূল্যের ঊর্ধ্বগতির প্রতিবাদে ঢাকায় বিএনপির গণসমাবেশ করেছে বিএনপি।

শনিবার (১০ ডিসেম্বর) বেলা ১১টায় রাজধানীর গোলাপবাগ মাঠে পবিত্র কুরআন তেলাওয়াতের মাধ্যমে সমাবেশ শুরু হয়।
