বিদ্যুতের পাইকারি দাম অপরিবর্তিত রেখে সিদ্ধান্ত দিয়েছে বাংলাদেশ এনার্জি রেগুলেটরি কমিশন (বিইআরসি)। বৃহস্পতিবার (১৩ অক্টোবর) সকাল সাড়ে ১১টায় ভার্চুয়াল সংবাদ সম্মেলনে এ ঘোষণা দেন বিইআরসি চেয়ারম্যান আবদুল জলিল। বিদ্যুৎ কোম্পানিগুলোর প্রস্তাবিত দাম বৃদ্ধির ওপর গণশুনানির প্রেক্ষিতে এ ফলাফল ঘোষণা করা হয়।

এর আগে গত ১৮ মে কোম্পানিগুলোর পাইকারি পর্যায়ে বিদ্যুতের প্রস্তাবিত দামের ওপর গণশুনানি করে বাংলাদেশ এনার্জি রেগুলেটরি কমিশন (বিইআরসি)। বিইআরসি আইন অনুযায়ী গণশুনানির পর ৯০ কর্মদিবসের মধ্যে আদেশ দেওয়ার আইনি বাধ্যবাধকতা রয়েছে। সে অনুযায়ী আজ ফলাফল ঘোষণা করা হয়।

সংবাদ সম্মেলনে আরো উপস্থিত ছিলেন, সদস্য মকবুল-ই ইলাহী, সদস্য বজলুর রহমান, সদস্য আবু ফারুক, বিইআরসি সচিব খলিলুর রহমান প্রমুখ।

এর আগে গণশুনানিতে বাংলাদেশ বিদ্যুৎ উন্নয়ন বোর্ডের (বিপিডিবি) বর্তমান দর ইউনিট প্রতি ৫ দশমিক ১৭ টাকা থেকে ৬৬ শতাংশ বাড়িয়ে ৮ দশমিক ৫৮ টাকা করার আবেদন করে। বিপিডিবির এই প্রস্তাব গ্যাসের আগের দর ইউনিট প্রতি ৪ দশমিক ৪৫ টাকা বিবেচনায়। ওই প্রস্তাবের পর ইউনিট প্রতি গ্যাসের দাম বৃদ্ধি হয়েছে ৫৭ পয়সা করে। বিইআরসি টেকনিক্যাল কমিটি ভর্তুকি ছাড়া ৮ দশমিক ১৬ টাকা করার মতামত দেয়। অতীতে কখনও এতো বেশি পরিমাণে দাম বৃদ্ধির প্রস্তাব দেওয়ার নজির নেই। পরে যাচাই-বাছাই শেষে বিইআরসি ১৯ দশমিক ৯২ শতাংশ দাম বৃদ্ধির প্রস্তাবনা প্রস্তুত করে এনেছিল। তবে সাম্প্রতিক সময়ে লোডশেডিংসহ নানা কারণে সেখান থেকে সরে এসেছে বিইআরসি।

এর আগে সর্বশেষ ২০২০ সালে ২৭ ফেব্রুয়ারি আরেক দফা বাড়ানো হয় বিদ্যুতের দাম। পাইকারি, খুচরা ও সঞ্চালন- এই তিন পর্যায়ে বিদ্যুতের দাম বড়ানো হয়। সাধারণ গ্রাহক পর্যায়ে (খুচরা) প্রতি ইউনিট বিদ্যুতের দাম গড়ে ৫ দশমিক ৩ শতাংশ বাড়িয়ে ৭ টাকা ১৩ পয়সা করা হয়।

যা আগে ছিল প্রতি ইউনিট ৬ টাকা ৭৭ পয়সা। ওইদিন বিকালে আনুষ্ঠানিকভাবে এ ঘোষণা দেয় বাংলাদেশ এনার্জি রেগুলেটরি কমিশন (বিইআরসি)। পাইকারিতে বিদ্যুতের দাম প্রতি ইউনিট গড়ে ৮ দশমিক ৪ শতাংশ বাড়িয়ে ৫ টাকা ১৭ পয়সা করা হয়। যা আগে ছিল প্রতি ইউনিট ৪ টাকা ৭৭ পয়সা। এ ছাড়া বিদ্যুৎ সঞ্চালন মূল্যহার বা হুইলিং চার্জ প্রতি ইউনিটে ০ দশমিক ২৭৮৭ টাকা থেকে ৫ দশমিক ৩ শতাংশ বাড়িয়ে ০ দশমিক ২৯৩৪ টাকা করা হয়ে। ১ মার্চ থেকে কার্যকর করে বিইআরসি।

স্থানীয় সূত্রে জানা যায়, উপজেলার ৫নং চন্ডিপুর ইউপির ২নং ওয়ার্ডের মেম্বার তছলিম মোল্লা রামগঞ্জ থেকে বাড়ি যাওয়ার সময় চন্ডিপুর বকসী বাজার নামক স্থানে এলে রাতের অন্ধকারে ৪/৫জন অজ্ঞাত সন্ত্রাসী তাকে দেশীয় অস্ত্রশস্ত্র দিয়ে এলোপাতাড়ি কুপিয়ে দ্রুত পালিয়ে যায়৷ পরে স্থানীয় লোকজন তাকে উদ্ধার করে রামগঞ্জ সরকারী হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করেন। মেম্বার তছলিম মোল্লা চন্ডিপুর ইউনিয়নের উত্তর চন্ডিপুর গ্রামের মেহের আলী মোল্লা বাড়ির মৃত গোফরান মোল্লার ছেলে।
