দেশে একবার ব্যবহারযোগ্য প্লাস্টিকের ওপর নিষেধাজ্ঞা দেওয়ার আহ্বান জানিয়েছেন পরিবেশ কর্মীরা। বুধবার রাজধানীর পর্যটন ভবনে এনভায়রনমেন্ট অ্যান্ড সোশ্যাল ডেভেলপমেন্ট অর্গানাইজেশন (এসডো) আয়োজিত ‘প্লাস্টিক পল্যুশন টুওয়ার্ডস প্লাস্টিক ট্রিটি নেগোসিয়েশন’ শীর্ষক সভায় এ আহ্বান জানানো হয়।

প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে পরিবেশ, বন ও জলবায়ু পরিবর্তন মন্ত্রণালয়ের সংসদীয় স্থায়ী কমিটির সভাপতি সাবের হোসেন চৌধুরী বলেন, প্লাস্টিক দূষণ কমানোতে সরকার ও জনগণকে একসঙ্গে কাজ করতে হবে, যা বৈশ্বিক প্লাস্টিক চুক্তির পথ সুগম করবে।

অনুষ্ঠানে এসডো জানায়, বাংলাদেশের ১৮টি আন্তঃসীমান্ত নদীর মাধ্যমে প্রতিদিন প্রায় ১৫ হাজার ৩৪৫ টন একবার-ব্যবহারেযোগ্য প্লাস্টিক বর্জ্য বাংলাদেশে প্রবেশ করছে। এর মধ্যে ২ হাজার ৮০২ টন ভারত ও মিয়ানমার থেকে প্রবেশ করে।




College student murder mystery revealed after 5 years

Land officials held hostage by sand pirates, later rescued

A Harirampur Upazila Assistant Land Officer was taken hostage by sand pirates while conducting a mobile court to stop illegal sand mining in the Padma River in Dhulshura Union of Harirampur Upazila of Manikganj. When her speedboat reached Moinat Ghat in Dohar Upazila, Dohar Upazila Assistant Land Officer SM Mustafizur Rahman arrived at the spot. He handed over the seized bulkhead to the Doha Upazila Land Officer and returned to Harirampur by river.

Tapsi Rabeya further said that she went to conduct a mobile court against illegal sand mining in the Padma on the borders of Manikganj after seeing Google Maps. But sand pirates from Doha area were coming to the borders of Manikganj and mining sand. After investigating, she found out that her speedboat was taken hostage and taken to Doha area under the leadership of sand pirates Muttar and Shahid from Doha area. Although no legal action was taken regarding the matter, she informed her superiors.

Dohar Upazila Assistant Land Officer SM Mustafizur Rahman said that he was informed by Dohar UNO that Harirampur Assistant Land Officer Tapsi Rabeya was facing problems while conducting a mobile court to stop illegal sand mining in the Padma. On the instructions of the UNO, he went to Moinat Ghat in Dohar Upazila and found Tapsi Rabeya. After talking to the local people, arrangements were made for the officer to go to his home upazila. Allegation of death of madrasa student due to sexual abuse

A madrasa student (13) has been accused of sexually assaulting a student in Bauphal, Patuakhali. He died while undergoing treatment at the Dhaka National Cancer Research Institute and Hospital around 8:30 pm on Friday.

However, the student's father said that his son died as a result of sexual abuse. He demanded justice for the madrasa director in the incident.

The deceased student was a student of the Hefz department of Madinatul Uloom Qawmia Hafezia Noorani Kindergarten Madrasa and Orphanage in Nazirpur Tanterkathi Union.

Locals said that when news of the boy's death spread, the accused, Selim Gazi, closed the madrasa and fled.

The boy's family said that after admission, he was sexually abused by the madrasa director Hafez Selim Gazi in various ways. He fell ill two weeks ago. Later, he was treated locally and admitted to the National Cancer Research Institute and Hospital.

The boy's father said that before his death, his son told him, 'Hafez Selim Gazi used to adore him very much since he was admitted. Later, the director kept him with him and sexually abused him almost every day.' He forbade anyone to say anything about this and threatened to kill his son. When the boy wanted to come home, Selim would bring him. He would leave him with his parents and grandfather for 10 to 15 minutes and then bring him back with him. He said, 'We gave our son to be trained as a Hafez in good faith. But the animal killed my father.' He cried, wanting justice for this.

Attempts were made to contact accused Selim Gazi on his mobile phone to discuss the matter, but his statement could not be taken as the phone was switched off.

Baufal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Arichul Haque said that after learning about the matter, a GD was filed at the police station and the body was recovered.
