Everyone's cooperation is needed to prevent question paper leaks: Dipu Moni

Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said that there is work to be done in some areas of the Ministry of Education. They will be done with everyone's cooperation from the beginning. In addition, more cooperation from parents and students will be needed to prevent the biggest problem, which is question paper leakage.

The Education Minister said these things in response to questions from journalists at Chandpur Circuit House on Thursday afternoon.
He also said that the more demand there is for leaked questions, the more those who resort to dishonest means will try to find them. Our responsibility is to ensure that this does not happen in any way. And in this case, if teachers, guardians and students want, we will not accept these questions. If we make efforts, it will be possible to stop this. Even then, if anyone does it, they will be brought under the law.

Dipu Moni said, "We will work to fulfill the expectations of the people of the country. Along with this, the Ministry of Education will also work with the cooperation of everyone in the country."

Also present at the event were Chandpur Deputy Commissioner Md. Majedur Rahman Khan, Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Mizanur Rahman, Sadar Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Kaniz Fatema, District Awami League Organizing Secretary Tafazzal Hossain Sdu Patwari and others.

Meghna bank protection dam is necessary to protect Kamalnagar

Lakshmipur:

The river has left thousands of families in Kamalnagar upazila of Lakshmipur destitute due to river erosion during the monsoon season. It has swallowed many government and private establishments. Due to continuous erosion, one-third of the upazila is now under the river.

In the past one and a half years, the one-kilometer bank protection dam in the upazila has collapsed at least eight times. The people of this township are now terrified of river erosion. To prevent erosion, another eight-kilometer dam is needed here before the next monsoon season.

To protect themselves from the terrible erosion, the residents of Kamalnagar have organized programs like human chains, meetings and road blockades. In the face of demands, the construction of a one-kilometer bank protection dam was completed last year. Just one kilometer of dam is not enough for Kamalnagar.

The second phase of the Kamalnagar riverbank protection dam is scheduled to begin, but it has not yet seen the light of day. If the second phase of the dam is not started soon, there is a risk that the dam that has been built will also disappear into the river. This will pose a serious threat to several unions including the upazila headquarters.

On the spot, it was seen that the designated one-kilometer dam in the Matabbarhat shore protection dam area is almost destroyed. In the last one and a half years, the dam has collapsed at least eight times. There are concerns about the dam in the coming monsoon season. If the damaged dam is not repaired and more dams are not built on both sides, a great danger will befall Kamalnagar. In such a situation, it is necessary to build more shore protection dams on an urgent basis.

Locals said that the construction of a one-kilometer bank protection dam during the last monsoon saved several areas including Matabbarhat Bazar. The dam is also under threat due to the lack of second-phase work. It is urgent to repair the bank protection dam and build another eight kilometers of dam before the next monsoon. People in the affected areas say that candidates have assured necessary measures to prevent erosion of the Meghna before the 11th National Parliament elections. Now the locals want the elected parliament members to fulfill their promises.

Kamalnagar Upazila Awami League Organizing Secretary and a victim of river erosion, Saifuddin Azam, said that although the main development project proposal (DPP) had instructions to build a second phase of about eight and a half kilometers of dam in Kamalnagar from the 2016-17 fiscal year, work has not yet started due to the negligence of the authorities and lack of proper steps. If the initiative to build the dam is not taken soon, Kamalnagar will be swallowed up by the river.

The day after being elected as a member of parliament from the Grand Alliance of the 11th National Parliament, he met with leaders and activists at Hazirhat Bazaar and assured them that river erosion work would be prevented in a road meeting.

Earlier in 2014, the government allocated Tk 198 crore for the Meghna River bank protection dam. With the allocated money, one kilometer of dam in Kamalnagar, three and a half kilometers in Ramgatir Alexander and one kilometer in Ramgatirhat Masghat area were to be constructed. On February 1, 2015, the 19th Engineering Construction Battalion under the supervision of the army started the construction of the dam to prevent erosion in the Alexander area and successfully completed three and a half kilometers.

Meanwhile, Narayanganj Dockyard Engineering Limited got a one-kilometer work in Kamalnagar for Tk 48 crore of that allocation. Two years after the allocation of money, the company started work with Western Engineering in early 2016. That year, the work was stopped due to pressure from the locals because it started work with low-quality sand and geo bags. At that time, the local people formed a human chain to protest the irregularities and demand proper work. Later, although one kilometer of work was done despite irregularities, the dam collapsed eight times in one and a half years.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Ramgati-Kamalagar river bank protection dam at a public meeting in Lakshmipur on March 14, 2017. At that time, she assured of the second phase of work. Locals expect that the second phase of work will begin soon to prevent erosion.

‘'Law is being amended to judge Jamaat as a party'’

Dhaka:

Law Minister Anisul Haque said that the law minister said that the law is being amended as a political party to try it as a political party? We have drafted it and the Cabinet will be presented if the Prime Minister's instructions are received.

He said this in response to questions from reporters during an exchange of views with officials at the secretariat on Wednesday (January 9).

The law minister said that the law that was made in 1973 was for the trial of those who are against humanity in the International Criminal Tribunal. The law was not done to try the Jamaat as a party. But when the constitution was framed in 1972, the demand was made a ‘band’.

‘ In view of the demand that the Jamaat is involved in war crimes as Jamaat parties, I said that there is no trial in the existing law. So we will give hand to the amendment in the last election. We will send some legal words to the law department. Later, we have prepared the cabinet and the cabinet will be issued after receiving the instructions of the Prime Minister.’

Meanwhile, the minister also opined that the law commission was commissioned to find those behind the murder of Bangabandhu and the killing of the district.

Those who were behind the killing of Bangabandhu, those who were behind the killing of the district should be identified and brought to the purview of justice or such an order so that people can at least get the message that they are wrong or If they are involved in other things, they will be tried in this country. This is one of the work of the law department.

He said if If I can't identify those behind the scenes, I will not be able to get out of the mechanism like on August 15, 1975, I will not be able to get out of that shadow.

The Digital Security Act has not been made against journalists. The minister said that some clauses were amended in the face of the demands of the journalists with the help of the previous leaders, but this time the minister changed his tone and said that we are more careful not to misuse the law in order to correct the law.

Oikfront announces 3-point program including filing case in Election Tribunal

The National Unity Front has announced a three-point program, including filing a case with the Election Tribunal over allegations of irregularities in the 11th parliamentary election. In addition, the leaders of the National Unity Front will soon organize a national dialogue with professionals and visit areas where leaders and activists have been affected by election violence. At the same time, the National Unity Front has demanded that the Election Commission provide accurate copies of the center-wise results of the national parliamentary election without delay.

BNP Secretary General and National Oikyafront spokesperson Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced these programs after a meeting of the Oikyafront steering committee held on Tuesday afternoon at the residence of Oikyafront top leader and Gono Forum President Dr. Kamal Hossain on Bailey Road in the capital.
Present at the event were Gono Forum President Dr. Kamal Hossain, JSD President ASM Abdur Rob, Krishak Sramik Janata League President Bangabhir Quader Siddiqui, Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna, Gonoshasthaya Kendra Trustee Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury, Gono Forum Executive President Subrata Chowdhury, General Secretary Mostafa Mohsin Montu, and Oikya Process Coordinator Shahidullah Kaiser, among others.

The top leaders of the Jatiya Oikya Front, which rejected the results of the 11th parliamentary elections on allegations of irregularities, held the meeting to decide on a new program for the movement. After the meeting, which began at 4:45 pm and lasted for about an hour, BNP Secretary General and Jatiya Oikya Front spokesperson Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir read out the Oikya Front's decision to journalists.

In response to journalists' questions, Dr. Kamal Hossain said, "We will go to court with evidence of irregularities in the election. For this, we have asked the Election Commission for an accurate copy of the center-wise results of the National Parliament election. So that it can be presented in court. It is proven that there was no election on December 30 in Bangladesh. Besides, within the next week, the leaders of the Unity Front will go to Balaganj, Sylhet. On the day of the election, an Oikya Front worker was killed in Balaganj, Sylhet.

In a written statement, the BNP Secretary General said, the essence of democracy is the rule of the people for the people; that is, the people will exercise their power through their elected representatives to govern the state. For this, a free, fair and impartial election process is required. According to the constitution, the Election Commission has all the powers and responsibilities to hold impartial elections. But in the 11th National Parliament election on December 30, the Election Commission cheated the people, the owners of the country. By abusing the law enforcement agencies and administrative officials in a very shameful manner and by neutralizing the effective role of the army, it turned the election into a farce. According to the blueprint, the Election Commission gave verbal instructions to the police and administrative officials on the night before the election, and helped the government-backed 'terrorist' forces to seal the ballot papers with boat and plow marks and keep the ballot boxes filled. In the December 30 election, the people were terrified by the government-backed terrorist forces and could not vote. As a result, the people were deprived of their right to express their opinions and their democratic rights, including the constitutional right to information. According to the Constitution of Bangladesh and international law, these illegal activities by the Election Commission and related officials are serious crimes.

In this situation, the people of Bangladesh strongly demand that a free, fair and impartial election be held again under a non-partisan government and an impartial Election Commission. In addition, we strongly demand that the Election Commission immediately provide accurate copies of the center-wise results of the election. After receiving the center-wise results, the people can prove in court that there was no election in Bangladesh on December 30.
