নিজস্ব প্রতিবেদক : একাদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনকে ঘিরে বড় দুই রাজনৈতিক দল প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছে। সম্ভাব্য প্রার্থীরা দৌড়ঝাঁপ শুরু করেছেন। লক্ষ্মীপুর-৪ (রামগতি-কমলনগর) আসনের প্রার্থীরাও বসে নেই। মনোনয়ন প্রত্যাশায় কেন্দ্র থেকে শুরু করে তৃনমূলের নেতাকর্মীদের সাথে যোগযোগ রক্ষা করে চলছেন প্রার্থীরা। এদের মধ্যে একজন বিশিষ্ট শিল্পপতি আবদুল মতিন চৌধুরী। তিনি বিএনপি থেকে মনোনয়ন চাইছেন। দলের টিকেট পেতে স্থানীয় নেতাকর্মী ও ভোটারদের মন জয়ের চেষ্টা করছেন। তিনি আশাবাদি বিএনপি তার ত্যাগের মূল্যায়ন করে আগামি নির্বাচনে তাকে মনোনয়ন দেবে। আবদুল মতিন চৌধুরী কেন্দ্রীয় তাঁতী দলের সহ-সভাপতি। দলের জন্য নিবেদিত; কর্মীবান্ধব এই নেতা রাজনৈতিক ২৩টি মামলার আসামি। রাজনৈতিক প্রতিহিংসার শিকার হয়ে দীর্ঘদিন কারাবরণ করেছেন। গ্রেফতার এড়িয়ে বর্তমানে তিনি কৌশলে রাজনৈতিক কর্মকান্ডে অংশগ্রহণ করছেন। নেতাকর্মীদের উজ্জীবিত করাসহ নির্বাচনী নানা পরিকল্পনা নিয়ে এগোচ্ছেন তিনি। আবদুল মতিন লক্ষ্মীপুরের কমলনগর উপজেলার চর লরেন্স ইউনিয়নের বাসিন্দা। তিনি শিক্ষক আলহাজ্ব মাওলানা মাইন উদ্দিন হোসেনের ছেলে। তিনি জগন্নাথ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে ¯œাতকোত্তর (মাস্টার্স) ডিগ্রি অর্জন করেন। বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে তিনি ছাত্রদলের সহ-আপ্যায়ণ বিষয়ক সম্পাদক হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করেছেন। সততা, দক্ষতা ও সাংগঠনিক তৎপরতায় তিনি বিএনপি’র শীর্ষ নেতাদের আস্থা ও বিশ্বাস অর্জন করেন। যে কারণে দল তাকে মূল্যায়ন করে কেন্দ্রীয় তাঁতী দলের সহ-সভাপতি করেন। বর্তমানে তিনি ঢাকা মহানগরসহ দেশের ৬৪ জেলায় তাঁতী দলের শক্ত ভীত তৈরী করতে সক্ষম হয়েছেন। তার হাত ধরে বিএনপির এই সহযোগী সংগঠন এখন রাজনৈতিক কর্মকান্ডে অন্যন্য ভূমিকা রাখছে। সম্প্রতি রোহিঙ্গা ক্যাম্প পরিদর্শনে বিএনপির চেয়ারপারসন খালেদা জিয়ার সফর সঙ্গী ছিলেন মতিন। ওই সফরে ফেনীতে তার গাড়ি ভাঙচুর করা হয়। ৫ জানুয়ারি দশম সংসদ নির্বাচন পরবর্তী এক বছর পর ২০১৫ সালের ৫ জানুয়ারি খালেদা জিয়ার নির্দেশে ‘গণতন্ত্র হত্যা দিবস’ পালনে আবদুল মতিন সব বাধা অপেক্ষা করে ঢাকার রাজপথে নামেন। ওইদিন তিনি গ্রেফতার হন। হয়েছেন নির্যাতনের শিকারও। এরপর থেকে ধারাবাহিকভাবে তার বিরুদ্ধে ২৩টি মামলা দায়ের করা হয়। দলীয় একটি সূত্রে জানা গেছে, দলের হাইকমান্ড গোপনে সম্ভাব্য প্রার্থীদের তালিকা তৈরি করছে। প্রতিটি আসনে সিনিয়র, মাঝারি ও তরুন এ তিন স্তরের প্রার্থীদের তালিকা করা হচ্ছে। তাদের সব তথ্য সংগ্রহ করছে দল। পাশাপাশি বিভিন্ন গণমাধ্যমে প্রকাশিত আসন ভিত্তিক প্রতিবদেন থেকেও নেয়া হচ্ছে তথ্য। সব মলিয়ে শতাধিক আসনে নতুন মুখ আসতে পারে। নতুন মুখ হিসাবে আবদুল মতিন চৌধুরী নিজকে আগ থেকেই তৈরি করে নিতে চেষ্টা করছেন। জানা গেছে, বিএনপি প্রার্থী বাছাইয়ের ক্ষেত্রে বেশ কয়েকটি বিষয়কে অগ্রাধিকার দেয়া হবে। দীর্ঘদিন যারা দলের দুঃসময়ে নেতাকর্মীদের পাশে ছিলেন, যারা জেল-জুলম নির্যাতনের সহ্য করেছেন তাদের অগ্রাধিকার দেয়া হবে। রাজনৈতিক মাঠে থাকতে গিয়ে আবদুল মতিন চৌধুরী বর্তমানে ২৩ মামলার আসামি। ওইসব মামলায় দলের মহাসচিব মির্জা ফখরুল ইসলাম আলমগীর, শীর্ষনেতা আমান উল্লাহ আমান, শিমুল বিশ্বান, রিজভী, শহীদ উদ্দিন এ্যানি, শফিউল বারী বাবুসহ বেশ কয়েকজন নেতাও রয়েছেন। এর মধ্যে কয়েকটি মামলায় গ্রেফতারী পরোয়ানা ও মাল জব্দের (ক্রোক) নির্দেশও রয়েছে। গ্রেফতার ও আওয়ামী লীগের হামলা থেকে নিজকে রক্ষা করতে এলাকায় আসতে পারছেন তিনি। এলাকায় আসায় তার ওপর হামলা ও গাড়ি ভাঙচুর করা হয়েছে। তবুও কৌশলে নেতাকর্মী ও সমর্থকদের সাথে তিনি যোগাযোগ করা রক্ষা করে যাচ্ছেন। সফল এ ব্যবসায়ী কেবল রাজনৈকি অঙ্গনেই নয়; সামাজিক কর্মকান্ড, মসজিদ-মকতবসহ বিভিন্ন প্রতিষ্ঠানে অনুদান ও অসহায়দের পাশ দাঁড়িয়ে বিগত দিনগুলোতে সুনাম অর্জন করেন। এছাড়াও একটি সামাজিক সংগঠনের মাধ্যমে সমাজসেবা করে আসছেন। বিএনপি থেকে মনোনয়ন প্রত্যাশী আবদুল মতিন চৌধুরী বলেন, জিয়াউর রহমান বিপন্ন দশা থেকে দেশকে রক্ষা করেছেন। এখন গণতন্ত্রের মুক্তির জন্য খালেদা জিয়ার সংগ্রাম করছেন। শহীদ জিয়ার সৈনিক হিসাবে দেশ ও জনগণের কল্যাণে কাজ করার শপথ নিয়েছি। মানুষের জন্য রাজনীতি করছি। অবহেলিত রামগতি ও কমলনগরে উন্নয়নে অংশিদার হতে দল থেকে মনোনয়ন চাইছি। আশা করি দল মূল্যায়ন করবে। লক্ষ্মীপুর-৪ (রামগতি-কমলনগর) আসন বিএনপি’র ঘাঁটি হিসাবে পরিচিত। এখানকার নেতাকর্মী ও সমর্থকরা ঐক্যবদ্ধ। এ আসন থেকে দল যাকেই মনোনয়ন দিবে সবাই তার জন্য কাজ করবেন; ধানের শীষ প্রতীকে ভোট দিবেন। এমটাই মনে করেছেন রাজনৈতিক সচেতনরা।
