Former civil surgeon Dr. Mohammad Salah Uddin Sharif was released from prison on bail within 24 hours after being sentenced to 3 months in prison by a mobile court in Lakshmipur.

When he applied for bail at the Lakshmipur Additional District Magistrate Court at 11 am on Tuesday, Judge Mir Shawkat Hossain granted him bail on a bond of Tk 5,000.

At around 12:15 p.m., local doctors brought him from the prison to the Civil Surgeon's office.

At the same time, the former civil surgeon expressed his gratitude to the media workers in his response and said, "I strongly demand that such an undesirable incident should not be repeated and that senior doctors should not be disrespected and humiliated." At the same time, he demanded that the activities being carried out in the name of mobile courts should be stopped and those who have committed this undesirable incident should be brought to justice.

They sat in a closed-door meeting with the Deputy Commissioner Homayra Begum for about half an hour. However, during the meeting, the doctors raised questions with the Deputy Commissioner about the issue of the death sentence. At that time, the Deputy Commissioner assured them of cooperation if they appealed, the doctors said.

লক্ষ্মীপুর : লক্ষ্মীপুরে অতিরিক্ত জেলা প্রশাসক (সার্বিক) শেখ মুর্শিদুল ইসলামের সঙ্গে অসাদচরণের অভিযোগে সাবেক ভারপ্রাপ্ত সিভিল সার্জন ডা.সালাহ উদ্দিন শরীফকে আটকের পর কারাদন্ড দেয়া হয়েছে। সোমবার (৪ ডিসেম্বর) সকালে শহরের কাকলি শিশু অঙ্গণ বিদ্যালয়ে প্রবেশকে কেন্দ্র করে দু’জনের বাক বিতন্ডার পর হাতাহাতির ঘটনায় ভ্রাম্যমাণ আদালত বসিয়ে সালাহ উদ্দিন শরীফকে ৩ মাসের বিনাশ্রম কারাদন্ড দেয়া হয়। পরে পুলিশ সালাহ উদ্দিনকে কারাগারে পাঠান। জেলা প্রশাসকের কার্যালয়ে আদালত পরিচালনা করেন সদর উপজেলা নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা ও নির্বাহী ম্যাজিস্ট্রেট মোহাম্মদ নুরুজ্জামান। এ ঘটনার পর বেলা সাড়ে ১১ টার দিকে বিক্ষুব্ধ চিকিৎসকরা জেলা প্রশাসক হোমায়রা বেগমের সঙ্গে বৈঠকে বসেন। পরে জেলা প্রশাসক আইনি সহযোগিতার আশ্বাস দিলে শান্ত হন তারা। তবে এসব ঘটনা সম্পর্কে গণমাধ্যমের সঙ্গে কোনো কথা বলতে রাজি হননি প্রশাসনের কেউ। পুলিশ, গোয়েন্দা সংস্থা, জেলা প্রশাসকের কার্যালয় সূত্র ও চিকিৎসকরা এ তথ্য নিশ্চিত করেন। জানা যায়, সকালে শহরের কাকলি স্কুলের প্রবেশ পথে শিশুদের আগে পরে যাওয়াকে কেন্দ্র করে অতিরিক্ত জেলা প্রশাসক (সার্বিক) শেখ মুর্শিদুল ইসলাম ও ডা. সালাহ উদ্দিন শরীফের বাক বিতন্ডা হয়। এসময় তাদের মধ্যে হাতহাতির ঘটনা ঘটে। পরে অতিরিক্ত জেলা প্রশাসককে লাঞ্ছিত করার অভিযোগে পুলিশের মাধ্যমে ডাক্তারকে আটক করে জেলা প্রশাসকের কার্যালয়ে নিয়ে আসা হয়। কিছুক্ষণের মধ্যে ভ্রাম্যামাণ আদালত বসিয়ে তাকে ৩ মাসের কারাদন্ড দেয়া হয়েছে জানিয়ে পুলিশ ওই ডাক্তারকে কারাগারে পাঠায়। তড়িঘড়ি করে সাজা দেয়ার বিষয় নিয়ে জেলায় কর্মরত বিক্ষুব্ধ অবস্থায় চিকিৎসকরা জেলা প্রশাসকের সঙ্গে বৈঠকে বসেন। এসময় গণমাধ্যমকে কোন ছবি তুলতে দেয়া হয়নি। বৈঠক থেকে বের হয়ে বিএমএ জেলা সভাপতি ডা. আশফাকুর রহমান জানান, জেলা প্রশাসক আইনি সহযোগিতার আশ্বাস দিলে চিকিৎসকরা শান্ত হন। নিয়ম মেনেই আদালতে আপিল করা হবে বলে জানান তিনি। এসময় অন্যান্যের মধ্যে আরো উপস্থিত ছিলেন, সদর হাসপাতালের আবাসিক মেডিকেল অফিসার ডা. আনোয়ার হোসেন, ডা. রাবিক হোসেন, ডা. জাকির হোসেন, ডা. হামিদ হোসেন প্রমুখ।

লক্ষ্মীপুর : লক্ষ্মীপুরের স্থানীয় সন্ত্রাসী লাদেন বাহিনীর সদস্য হত্যাসহ একাধিক মামলার আসামি জাহাঙ্গীরকে গ্রেফতার করেছে পুলিশ। সোমবার (৪ ডিসেম্বর) দুপুরে চন্দ্রগঞ্জ থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) মো. মোক্তার হোসেন বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেছেন। এর আগে রোববার (৩ ডিসেম্বর) রাতে সদর উপজেলার বশিকপুর ইউনিয়নের বালাইশপুর গ্রাম থেকে তাকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়। তার কাছ থেকে ২টি একনলা বন্দুক, ১টি দোনলা বন্দুক ও ১৮ রাউন্ডগুলি উদ্ধার করা হয়। জাহাঙ্গীর বালাইশপুর গ্রামের শাহ আলমের ছেলে ও সম্প্রতি গোলাগুলিতে নিহত সন্ত্রাসী লাদেন বাহিনীর সদস্য। চন্দ্রগঞ্জ থানার উপ পরিদর্শক (এসআই) মো. কামরুল জানান, গোপন সূত্রে খবর পেয়ে অভিযান চালিয়ে তাকে গ্রেফতার করা হয়। পরে তার স্বীকারোক্তি মোতাবেক ওই এলাকার একটি বাগান থেকে বস্তা ভর্তি অবস্থায় ৩টি বন্দুক, ১২ রাউন্ড লাইফেলের ও ৬ রাউন্ড বন্দুকের গুলি উদ্ধার করা হয়। সন্ত্রাসী জাহাঙ্গীর হত্যাসহ একাধিক মামলা আসামি। তার অস্ত্র আইনে মামলা দায়েরের প্রস্তুতি চলছে।

Lakshmipur: A school student, Russell (14), died in a road accident at Kamalnagar in Lakshmipur on Monday (December 4) at 9 am on Hazirhat to Matabbarhat road.

Russell is a 9th grade student of Millat Academy and the son of Mohiuddin of Char Falkon area.

Eyewitnesses and relatives said that Russell was on his way to school on his bicycle when an auto-rickshaw (borak) hit him. He was seriously injured. He was taken to Kamalnagar Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.

Kamalnagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Akul Chandra Biswas confirmed the death.

The mouza areas covered by the municipality are Amani Lakshmipur, Tairabnagar, Panchpara, Deopara, West Latifpur, Ramakrishnapur, Sheikhpura, Chhota Rashidpur, Ganipur, Rajapur, Ramchandra Pur, Basuduhita and South Dhanyapur.

It further states that, as per the provisions of sub-section (3) of Section 3, the concerned Union Parishad may raise written objections against the proposal within 1 month of the publication of the notification regarding the intention to declare an urban area.
