The chief guest was eminent industrialist and former student of the school, Saidur Rahman. The special guests were Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam, former student of the school and child health specialist, Makshudur Rahman Swapan, eminent industrialist and former student of the school, Omar Faruk Bachchu, Deputy Assistant Land Officer of Dhaka, Convener of Dhaka Forum of Former Students and Deputy Director of Narsingdi Agriculture Department, Agriculturist Dr. Md. The triennial conference of the Lakshmipur district branch of the Bangladesh Teachers' Association (Principal Md. Kamruzzaman) has been held. The conference was organized at the hall of Lakshmipur Collegiate High School on Friday (September 22) afternoon under the initiative of the District and Sadar Upazila Teachers' Association.
Lakshmipur District Branch President Md. Momin Ulya presided over the event, with Municipality Mayor M. A. Taher as the chief guest.
The conference was inaugurated by Lakshmipur Government College Principal Main Uddin Pathan.
Moderated by District Teachers' Association Organizing Secretary Kamrul Islam, the conference was addressed by Bangladesh Teachers' Association Central President Principal MA Awal Siddiqui, Vice President Shafi Ulya Khan, District Awami League Organizing Secretary Advocate Abul Bashar, Judge's Court Assistant PP Advocate Babu Premdhan Majumder, Yusuf Jalal Kismat, former District Chhatra League President Abul Kashem Mizan and District Independence Teachers' Council Convener Mahbubur Rashid Chowdhury. Local residents held a protest and rally at Torabganj Bazaar in Kamalnagar, Lakshmipur, to protest the genocide and torture of Rohingya in Rakhine, Myanmar.

The protest rally organized under the banner of Torabganj Social Welfare Council after Asr prayers on Friday (September 22) started from the premises of Torabganj Central Jame Mosque and ended with a short rally at the Krishnachura square of the market. About 2,000 ordinary people participated in the rally. The rally was addressed by Maulana Ibrahim Shamim, vice-principal of Bhavaniganj Karamatia Senior Madrasa, Maulana Manjurul Haque, director of local Ashraful Uloom Madrasa, Torabganj Primary School President Abduzzaher Bhuiyan, Maulana Momin Ullah, teacher of Farashganj Faiz Aam Alim Madrasa, Maulana Mostafizur Rahman, Chhatra League leaders and activists Md. Harun Or Rashid, Arif Hossain, and others.

Later, Torabganj Bazar Jame Mosque Khatib Maulana Mohsin offered prayers and supplications for the persecuted Rohingya Muslims at the rally.

Lakshmipur: A rape case has been filed against a raw material trader in Kamalnagar, Lakshmipur, after he served a legal notice to collect money owed to him. In this incident, the police have arrested businessman Abu Taher (42) and sent him to jail through the court. This has angered the local people. They also held a protest march at Karunanagar Bazar in protest.

In this regard, the incident site, Charjangalia village and Karunanagar market, were visited and the concerned people including businessmen, local people were spoken to. At that time, they said that the case was completely prepared.

According to the concerned, on May 20, Anjan Chandra Das of Charjangalia village of the upazila borrowed three lakh taka from Abu Taher, promising to pay the money within three months. At that time, he was given a check from his own Sonali Bank Kamalnagar branch (account number-100013159). On the scheduled August 22, Taher went to the bank with the check and found that there was no money in that account. The check was returned from the bank. Later, on August 27, the bank authorities dishonored the check. The next day, Abdul Odud, a lawyer at the Lakshmipur Judge Court, sent a legal notice to Anjan Chandra Das on behalf of Taher. At that time, he was asked to pay the dues within 30 days. Otherwise, legal action would be taken. This made Anjan angry.

The case report states that on September 19, around 7 pm, Anjan Chandra Das' wife (35) went to the pond ghat next to her house. There, 3-4 unknown people including Abu Taher, who had been lurking from the east, grabbed her face. Later, Taher forcibly tied her face. During this time, she was raped multiple times with the help of others. Later, after searching, she was rescued from the scene naked and unconscious and admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. On September 19, Anjan's brother Sudip Chandra Das filed a case with Kamalnagar Police Station as the plaintiff in this incident. In it, Abu Taher's name was mentioned and 3-4 unknown people were made accused.

Taher sells raw materials in front of Md. Monir's grocery shop in Karunanagar Bazar every day from afternoon to midnight. The weekly market is there on Sunday. He bought and sold from afternoon to 11 pm that day. However, the case states that he raped her in Charjangalia village that evening.

After visiting Charjangalia village and Karunanagar market on the spot, it was learned that Taher has been pressuring Anjan to collect the money owed. He failed to recover the money through the locals. For this, a legal notice was recently sent. This angered him and the rape drama was staged. Taher was in the market at the time of the incident. Hundreds of people saw him in the market. It would take one to one and a half hours to get to the spot from the market. He has been framed in a case in a planned manner. Only a proper investigation will reveal the real incident. Local people held a protest march in Karunanagar market on Wednesday to protest the arrest and harassment of Taher in a conspiracy case.

Abu Taher told reporters in police custody, "I had to go to jail in a false case just to demand the money I was owed. After I was arrested on Tuesday, the police took me to the police station and beat me up. Now I have swelling and wounds all over my body, including my hands and feet. I am demanding an impartial investigation into the case."

Plaintiff Sudeb Chandra Das said, "The incident of Taher's transaction with my brother is true. I filed the case as the plaintiff because Minati Rani mentioned Dhasharna."

Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital's Resident Medical Officer Md. Anwar Hossain said, "The incident cannot be called rape right now. However, initially, signs of injury to the genitals have been found. However, it has been sent for DNA testing, and the matter can be confirmed once the report is received."

The investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Kamalnagar Police Station Md. Mohin Uddin, said that the main accused in the case, Taher, has been arrested and sent to court. The victim was subjected to a medical examination. The allegation of beating the accused in police custody is not correct. The case is being investigated seriously. No innocent person will be harassed.

In Kamalnagar, Laxmipur, there have been allegations of harassment against freedom fighter Md. Mohsin's son Mahmudul Hasan Hiroo by accusing him in a murder case. The family has demanded a judicial investigation into the case and has sought the intervention of the administration. The demand was made at a press conference at the Kamalnagar Press Club on Wednesday (September 20) afternoon.
In a written statement to the press conference, Rebecca Mohsin said that the husband of a freedom fighter from Char Jangaliya village in the upazila, Md. Mohsin, died in 2012. He was a teacher at Hazirhat Millat Academy. For a long time, her husband's half-brother (brother-in-law) Md. Chana Ullah had been in a dispute with the tehsildar over land. After her husband's death, Chana Ullah proposed marriage to her to seize the property. When she did not agree, she resorted to various conspiracies. On May 29, 2016, Md. Maqsud (26), a peon of the Freedom Fighters Club in the Char Lawrence area, went missing. Eight days after the incident, the police recovered his melted body from inside the safety tank of Chana Ullah's house. In this incident, the deceased's brother Belal Hossain filed a case with the police station that night, accusing 4-5 unknown people. His son's name was not in the complaint in the case. Later, a group of criminals including Chana Ulya managed to get the police to file a final report (chargesheet) in court, accusing her son Mahmudul Hasan Hiru as the third accused.
He further said, "My son is not involved in the murder. I also want justice for those involved in this murder. Only a judicial investigation by examining the evidence seized to unravel the mystery of the murder and examining it will reveal the real incident." For this reason, he has sought the intervention of the administration.

Khokon (40), the chief of the Khokon Bahini bandit group in Ramgati, Lakshmipur, has been arrested.

Hatia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Majid confirmed the arrest on Tuesday (September 19) afternoon.

Earlier, on Monday (September 18) afternoon, Lieutenant Borhan Uddin, Commander of the Hatiyar Coast Guard Station in Noakhali, conducted a raid and arrested him from the Ghasiar Char area.

During this time, five single-barrel guns, two rounds of bullets, several domestic weapons and cash were recovered from him.

According to police and coast guard sources, Khokon is the main accused in the murder case of Nazrul Islam, president of the Char Abdullah Union Chhatra League of Ramgati. There are 18-20 cases against him, including murder, robbery and rape, in various police stations of Ramgati in Lakshmipur, Tajumuddin in Bhola and Noakhali.

The Khokon army established a reign of terror in the Meghna River, including Chargajaria and Char Abdullah in Ramgati. At various times, its armed forces are accused of murdering, robbing, and raping political leaders and public representatives under the umbrella of the government.

India has changed its position on the Rohingya issue and said it will stand by Bangladesh in the Rohingya crisis. Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj conveyed this message to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Earlier, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in line with Myanmar, called the Rohingya crisis an 'Islamic terrorist issue'. Now, there has been a major change in his position. And the architects behind this change in position have been Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, and Bangladesh High Commissioner in Delhi, Syed Moazzem Ali.

A diplomatic source in Delhi said that Bangladesh has been delaying diplomatic talks with India on the Rohingya issue. Bangladesh has taken the initiative, albeit late. In view of this, Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj telephoned Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday night to inform her of Delhi's change of position.

A diplomat in Dhaka said that Sushma Swaraj told Sheikh Hasina over the phone that India believes in Bangladesh's position on the Rohingya issue. India will also raise the issue of sending the Rohingya back to Myanmar in multilateral and secret meetings.

During their visit to New York, officials in Dhaka and Delhi began working on the possibility of Sheikh Hasina and Sushma Swaraj flying on the same flight. They flew from Abu Dhabi on the same Etihad Airways flight over the Atlantic Ocean, landing at New York's John F. Kennedy Airport after a nearly 14-hour journey.

Video footage from various media outlets shows Sushma Swaraj getting off first. Then, seeing Sheikh Hasina exiting the plane, everyone was convinced that there had been extensive discussions between them on the plane.

Multiple diplomatic sources confirmed that the Rohingya issue dominated their discussions. Sushma Swaraj conveyed a clear message of standing by Bangladesh on the Rohingya issue. Various aspects of the two countries' actions in this regard were also discussed.

Myanmar's State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi and the country's army chief and other officials have been put on trial at an international tribunal in Malaysia on charges of genocide and crimes against humanity. The verdict is expected to be announced on Friday.

The hearing at the Permanent People's Tribunal (PPT) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's capital, began on Monday. A panel of internationally renowned experts participated in the hearing, which was held at the Faculty of Law of the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur.
Gregory Stanton, a professor of Genocide Studies and Prevention at George Mason University in the United States, testified in the hearing. He said that Myanmar's military, police, other Buddhist militias, and the country's current civilian government are accused of crimes against humanity and genocide.

Regarding the Rohingya, he said that they are victims of deprivation and discrimination at all levels in Myanmar. Bangladesh Human Rights Commission Chairman Kazi Riazul Haque also participated in the hearing.

Today, the tribunal will present evidence on the persecution of Muslims in Myanmar. In the afternoon, the prosecution will make its closing arguments, followed by the defense.

The jury will present their arguments throughout the day on Thursday. The eight-member panel of judges includes prominent figures and lawyers involved in international crime investigations.

Chandra Muzaffar, chairman of the organizing committee of the Malaysian branch of the PPT, said that during the five-day session, the judges will analyze the prosecution's arguments, the opinions of expert witnesses, and the statements of victims. The verdict will be announced at 10 am local time on Friday. The judges' verdict will be sent to various international organizations and groups, including the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva.

It has been used in Unani and Ayurvedic herbal medicine since 900 BC." Farmers are cultivating thankuni in shady places in fruit and vegetable gardens in Narsingdi, Narayanganj, Savar, and Keraniganj areas. This is an additional benefit for farmers.
