Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sought the prayers of the countrymen on the holy day of Eid-ul-Azha to transform the country from a middle-income country to a developed world country.

The Prime Minister made this request at a greeting exchange ceremony organized on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha at Ganabhaban on Saturday.

At this time, she sought everyone's cooperation to free the country from the curse of militancy, terrorism and drugs. The Prime Minister made a special appeal to parents, teachers, mosque imams and scholars.

Sheikh Hasina said, 'At the pace at which the country is moving forward, InshaAllah, one day Bangladesh will join the ranks of the developed world.'‘

At the time, the Prime Minister said that Bangladesh will be the most peaceful country in South Asia. Sheikh Hasina also highlighted her government's 'zero tolerance' policy against terrorism and militancy.

On the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha, the Prime Minister exchanged greetings with people from all walks of life, including party leaders and activists, judges and foreign diplomats, at her official residence, Ganabhaban.

The Prime Minister exchanged Eid greetings with people from all walks of life and professionals, including party leaders and activists, poets, writers, journalists, teachers and intellectuals, at Ganabhaban from 9:30 am to 11 am.

From 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM, the Prime Minister will exchange Eid greetings with judges and foreign diplomats at the same venue.

Family members, including younger sister Sheikh Rehana, and top party leaders were present with the Prime Minister during the exchange of greetings.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called the killing of Rohingya in Myanmar's Muslim-majority Rakhine state a genocide. He added that countries that are turning a blind eye to the genocide under the guise of democracy are also fueling the genocide in Myanmar.
They are equally guilty.

Speaking in Istanbul, Turkey, on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, Erdogan called on Bangladesh to open its borders to allow more Rohingya refugees to enter. Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha exchanged Eid greetings with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Ganabhaban on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Adha.

The Chief Justice went to Ganabhaban around 10 am on Saturday.
The Chief Justice also exchanged greetings with Sheikh Rehana, the younger sister of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and daughter of Bangabandhu.

At the event, Bangladesh Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina exchanged Eid greetings with people from all walks of life at Ganabhaban, including the Speaker of the National Parliament, judges, senior officers of the armed forces, party leaders and activists, foreign diplomats posted in Bangladesh, and others.

The Prime Minister also exchanged greetings with Shakib Al Hasan, who led Bangladesh to a historic victory over Australia in the Dhaka Test. The Prime Minister personally fed Shakib.

Bangabandhu's younger daughter and Sheikh Hasina's sister Sheikh Rehana, the Prime Minister's daughter Saima Hossain Putul, Awami League presidium members Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Faruk Khan and senior party leaders were present at the event.

Lakshmipur: Four people, including a father and son, were killed when a bus ran over them in Lakshmipur. All of them were passengers in a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw. Two others were seriously injured.
The accident occurred around 11 am on Saturday (September 2) in the Mandari Bazar area of Sadar Upazila on the Dhaka-Raipur regional road.
A total of four people died, including two on the spot and two more on the way to the hospital.
The deceased were identified as Md. Yusuf and his son Iqbal Shakib of Abirkhil village in Sadar upazila, Mizanur Rahman of Purba Jamirtoli village, and autorickshaw driver Momin Ullah. All the victims were passengers in the autorickshaw.
Eyewitnesses and police said that a Raipur-bound Jonaki Paribahan bus from Dhaka hit a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw when it reached the spot. Two people died on the spot and two more died on the way to the hospital.
Lakshmipur's Chandraganj Highway Police Outpost Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Abdul Malek confirmed the death of four people.

 Lakshmipur: Eid-ul-Adha is being celebrated in advance in 10 villages of Lakshmipur in line with Saudi Arabia. The main Eid prayer congregation was held at 10 am on Friday (September 1) at the Talimun Quran Noorani Madrasa ground in Noagaon Bazar of Ramganj Upazila. Maulana Aminul Islam led the congregation. In addition, Eid prayers were offered in the Eidgah grounds of 10 villages including Joypura, Bigha, Barogharia, Hotatia, Sharshoi, Kanchanpur and Raipur Upazilas of Ramganj Upazila of the district and Bashikpur village of Sadar Upazila. Later, they sacrificed animals. As followers of Maulana Ishaq (RA), the people of these areas have been celebrating all religious festivals including Eid in line with the holy lands of Mecca and Medina. The Muslims of these villages have been celebrating Eid in line with Saudi Arabia for the last 37 years.
